'He's done so much in healing me and bringing me back into the world': Nicole Kidman brought to tears talking about Keith Urban's love after her split from Tom Cruise and 'lonely' Oscar win

They've been married for a decade and have two girls together.

And on Tuesday Nicole Kidman was brought to tears as she spoke about how falling in love with Keith Urban changed her life for the better.

The loving moment happened during an interview with Richard Wilkins on the Today show, where the 49-year-old was promoting her new film Lion.

'He's done so much in healing me': On Tuesday Nicole Kidman was brought to tears talking about husband Keith Urban's love during an interview with Richard Wilkins on Channel Nine

After the actress laughed off suggestions she wants to win another Oscar, Nicole admitted to welcoming an opportunity to express her gratitude publicly for Keith.

'The one thing I would love is, I would love to be able at some point stand up there and thank my husband,' Nicole sad.

'He's done so much in healing me and bringing me back into the world with good love.'

'You've made me cry Richard!' Nicole became visibly emotional as she discussed how lucky she felt to be in love

Richard added: 'He is so proud of you, so incredibly proud of you.'

'Is he?' Nicole responded, becoming visibly emotional.

'He is so loving towards me I am very very lucky- you've made me cry Richard!'

The touching revelation comes after the Australian movie star previously spoke about her unhappiness upon winning the 2002 best actress Oscar.

Loved up: Nicole and Keith have been married since 2006 and shared two daughters together Sunday Rose and Faith

Rock solid: The decade long public union is despite Keith well publicised battles with addiction, which included a trip to rehab just months after their wedding

During a question and answer session at the BFI London Film Festival in October, Nicole described the crippling loneliness she felt after the accolade.

The Australian beauty had just gone through a highly-publicised divorce with husband of 11 years, superstar Tom Cruise.

'Winning the Oscar was a turning point, but not in terms of my life as an actor, because it was incredibly validating, but it actually symbolised loneliness to me because I didn't have anyone to share it with at that stage in my life,' she said.

'It actually symbolised loneliness to me': Nicole has previously spoken about the personal pain she felt while accepting her 2002 best actress Oscar

'I was like, "Wow, this means I need to get my act together and I want to fall in love" so it was weird.'

During Tuesday's interview with Channel Nine, Nicole also said she was drawn to play the real life role of Sue Brierley in Lion because of their shared experience adopting children.

'That was probably the thing that resonated with me,' Nicole said.

'And there is a beautiful speech that Sue gives about having a vision, mine was similar in that vision in that I would adopt, and a lot of adoptive parents say that.'

The Kidman-Urban clan is currently in Australia where they plan to spend Christmas with family.

'That was probably the thing that resonated with me': The actress also told Today she was drawn to her role in Lion because she is also the mother of adopted kids (pictured with Connor and Isabella in 2004)
