Flip Or Flop 'set to end' after split of its married hosts Tarek and Christina El Moussa

There's been doubt about the future of HGTV's popular Flip Or Flop reality show after its married co-hosts, realtors Tarek and Christina El Moussa, revealed they had separated.

Now an insider has told E! News that more episodes of the three-year-old series will be filmed in the new year to fulfill contractual obligations, but 'the show will end after that.'

HGTV did not confirm the news, saying: 'The series will continue production as scheduled.'

On Monday, the pair released a joint statement that read: 'Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage.

'We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.'

According to an incident report, the police turned up after Christina, 33, saw 35-year-old Tarek 'run outside' with a handgun.

He was quickly spotted by police in a helicopter and ordered to drop his weapon. He later voluntarily relinquished all his firearms to authorities.

'Tarek did not make any threatening statements to her and he did not make any comments about hurting himself or anyone else,' the incident report read.

Christina also 'denied that Tarek had ever been suicidal.'

The couple later explained that 'Tarek was going on a hike and took a gun for protection from mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes and rattlesnakes,' insisting that his 'intentions were misread.'

The two say they will make things work in front of the camera but have decided to separate.

Tarek and Christina were married for seven years and share two children, daughter Taylor, six, and son Brayden, 15 months.

'We are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be,' the two told E! News.

'We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.'
