'I was really nervous because I kind of had a crush on him!' Young girl who wowed the world with her vocals in Love Actually 13 years ago looks back to her first on-screen kiss in the movie

  • Olivia Olson, who played 'the coolest girl in school' Joanna Anderson, looked back at her time on the set of the holiday favorite, which premiered in 2003
  • Now 24, she said she had a crush on her co-star Thomas Brodie-Sangster, but was nervous because she was taller than him
  • Since the movie, she's gone on to do voice word for Adventure Time and Phineas and Ferb
  • The actress, who sang All I Want for Christmas in the film, said she is also recording her own album

With megastars like Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, and Emma Thompson gracing the screen, it's truly a testament to their cuteness that the two youngest actors in Love Actually became fan favorites.

Olivia Olson, who played 'the coolest girl in school' Joanna Anderson, recently shared her memories of filming the holiday hit with E! News, revealing that she was squealing inside just as much as viewers were for her big kiss with co-star Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

In fact, the now-24-year-old said, she had a crush on him at the time — making the fact that it was her first on-screen kiss all the more nerve-wracking.

Cutie: The 24-year-old said she had a crush on her co-star, Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Lucky: She's thrilled the first movie she was in became a holiday classic

'It was my first kiss and on-screen kiss too,' she said. 'I was really nervous because I kind of had a crush on Thomas back in the day and I was also worried because I was taller than him.'

Thomas, now 26, is actually older than Olivia — but as the two were both tweens at the time, the height difference wasn't unusual.

Olivia has since gone on to do voice work for the cartoon Phineas and Ferb from 2008 to 2015, as well as Adventure Time from 2010 to 2016. Thomas also did voice work for Phineas and Ferb.

But she looks back at her first gig especially fondly.

Staying connected: Since then, both Thomas and Olivia have done voice over work on Phineas and Ferb

That voice: Olivia also sang All I Want for Christmas in the movie

'It's so great that the first movie I was ever in became this holiday classic. It's really exciting that people are still talking about it,' she said.

In the interview, Olivia also talked about the privilege of working with the late Alan Rickman, as well as Emma Thompson, who gave her advice for crying on command.

'She just said, "I put myself in my character's situation. I don't think of anything sad. I just think how would I feel if my husband was cheating on me,"' Olivia said. "And all of us kids in the movie were sitting right at her toes while they were filming that scene and we were just in awe of how amazing her and Alan Rickman are.'

Tween problems: he had been nervous about the kiss because she was taller than Thomas

Of course, it's not just her acting that made Olivia a favorite in the film — it was her impressive rendition of Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas.

Olivia revealed that she is actually working on recording an album now, describing it as 'sexy' and 'funny'.

'Singing is absolutely my number one passion and love in life,' she told The Mary Sue earlier this year.
