Millionaire pop star Rita Ora 'faces losing chunk of her fortune as police investigate claims she is caught up in fraudster's £2.3m swindle'

Pop star Rita Ora is facing the prospect of losing a chunk of her fortune after she was caught up in a £2.3million fraud sting.

The singer, who is said to be worth as much as £10million, has been contacted by police investigating claims an accountant has swindled several companies over a period of months, including businesses Ora has investments with.

It is believed that if the 26-year-old's accounts are among those that have been infiltrated, she could lose 'tens of thousands of pounds'. However, her investments are all covered by insurance policies.

Northamptonshire Police have arrested and bailed a 35-year-old man in connection to a financial investigation.

In a statement issued to MailOnline by her lawyer Graham Shear says: 'Rita Ora has multiple business interests globally.

'One of the Companies in which she has an interest is a potential victim of fraud along with several other companies and individuals.

'The potential loss suffered by all the victims collectively is thought to be significant but only a proportion of that total figure will apply to the entity in which Ms Ora is one of several shareholders.

'Any loss suffered by the Company in which Ms Ora has an interest will be recoverable from insurance policies which protect against this sort of professional misappropriation, fraud and other claims.'

Since releasing her debut album in 2012, she has been one of the savviest stars in the industry. 

Among her big cash deals, she is believed to have taken home £1.5million for her stint on The X Factor, £2.5million to promote DKNY as well as hugely lucrative contracts with Adidas and for her new hosting role on America's Next Top Model (above).

Ora also lost £200,000 worth of possessions including bags and jewellery when her home was raided last year. Charaf Elmoudden was convicted in June and sentenced to five years for the burglary.
