An impatient driver who tried to squeeze between two cars on a two-lane dual carriageway has been banned from the road.

Shocking footage emerged of fridge engineer Steven Ryde-Weller aggressively tailgating a car on the A55 at Colwyn Bay, North Wales.

At one point he appeared to try to move between the two cars, one in the inside lane and the other in the overtaking lane.

A driver admitted a motoring offence after attempting to squeeze between cars on the A55

When he could not get through, he drove his soft-top Saab, at speed, right behind the Volkswagen in the outside lane.

Ryde-Weller, 55, of South Oxhey, near Watford, admitted dangerous driving and was ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work and banned for a year with an extended test ordered.

District judge Gwyn Jones told him at Llandudno court : 'This is a case of impatient and intolerant driving on a busy road at Old Colwyn.

'You were travelling within a matter of a metre or so of the vehicle in front, clearly harassing the other vehicle.

'That vehicle was travelling within the speed limit and when it was trying to go to the left lane you undertook as you were going out of the 50mph [limit].'

The judge added : 'You are very fortunate there was no injury.'

Ryde-Weller, also admitted having no MOT on May 29 on the A55 eastbound.

Prosecutor Diane Williams said the driving was recorded on a mobile phone by an occupant of another car.

Alex Fitzgerald, defending, said Ryde-Weller was extremely nervous about being in court.

He had visited Snowdon with children and was on his way back to the south of England.
