Wanna be on top! Winnie Harlow reveals she relishes being an 'inspiration' to her fans in a new interview with Elle Canada

Play peekaboo with a sheer top like Winnie's

Winnie Harlow posed up a storm in directional high-fashion looks for her first cover of Elle Canada.

Harlow stunned in a pair of custom Mikhael Kale lace-up PVC trousers paired with a sheer Chris Gelinas jacket that's hot from the label's Spring/Summer 2017 show. The diaphanous piece reveals and conceals in equal measure. The transparency of the fabric makes clear just how precise and neat the label's tailoring is as any nick, fray or stray thread would show. Spoiler: there's none to be seen.

Her's is a great twist on the bomber jacket trend. It's light airiness instantly elevates everything it is put with - as Winnie shows this treatment can be given to a plain black bra. For a more conservative styling tip, try it over a body-con dress or zipped up over a slip dress.

Unfortunately, this cover girl's look isn't available to buy (yet) but for more sheer coats head to our edit below.

She tells the publication: 'I feel like I am an inspiration. That’s the word I prefer.

'I don’t believe that I have to be a role model, someone to be emulated. My mom inspires me, and I take great things from her, but there are things from my mom that I would never do.

'So I don’t have my mother as a role model, but I do have her as a huge inspiration.'

The beauty - who shot to fame as a contestant on America's Next Top Model - certainly proves her worth in the accompanying cover shoot.

But, despite having designers at her beck and call, Winnie - who grew up Toronto - says she'll always refer back to her roots in the style stakes.

She adds: 'My sense of fashion has developed a lot.

'[But] I still have my ‘hood style – I still like to wear my gold chains and my grills.'
