A Texas refinery security guard has spent most of the year riding to work on a used bicycle after his car broke down and he couldn't afford to repair it.

Adrian Alcorn duct taped a flashlight to the bike's handlebars so he could navigate his way down a highway in the dark next to tank trucks on his way to the Valero Texas City Refinery.

Regardless of the rain or heat, Alcorn was never once late to work.

Some of the workers who Alcorn checks in every day at the refinery's gate noticed the rundown bike next to the guard building.

So they decided to chip in and help by Alcorn an SUV for Christmas.

It took just a few days for employees at the refinery's coke unit to raise $3,000.

A group of employees were filmed leading Alcorn to the car and handing him the keys.

'We see how you get to and from work, and you're always here and on time,' one of the workers could be heard saying.

A clearly stunned Alcorn said 'No, man' when he was handed the keys.

He later told ABC13: 'I guess I have more friends than I know. I believed I was going to get a blessing one day.'
