'What more could I ask for?': Goo Goo Dolls' John Rzeznik, 51, and wife Melina Gallo welcome their first baby

Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik welcomed his first child with wife Melina Gallo. 

The 51-year-old rock musician is now father to little girl Liliana Carella Rzeznik, who was born in Los Angeles on Thursday.

'Mama and baby are gorgeous and healthy. What more could I ask for?' Rzeznik told People magazine.

The Iris hit-maker announced he and his wife of three years were expecting back in November.

During a Facebook Live chat with SiriusXM Radio, the Grammy nominee joked of taking on diaper duties: 'I'm ready. I'm ready for action.'

'I've been an uncle my whole life, but I've never been a dad,' he explained. 'I'm sleeping in two-hour shifts [to prepare].'  

The talented musician - who has penned songs for the band which hits include Name, Slide, Black Balloon and Better Days - started dating Melina in 2005.

They tied the knot in July 2013 in a chic rustic ceremony at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu in front of 120 close friends and family.

His band mates were also in attendance including bassist Robby Takac and drummer George Tutuska.

Rzeznick chose not to perform at their wedding and said: 'We made it perfectly clear that I would not be singing at all at our wedding. Our song was Adele's Make You Feel My Love. I love her version of that song.'

The New York native recalled the first time he met his wife, 'I met [Melina] in a record store in New York City about two and a half years ago.'

'We were doing a signing. She was doing these charity auctions on eBay and she had a bunch of CDs for me to sign. We kind of hit it off and we talked on the phone for months.' 

His year wraps up with a huge highlight to end a fantastic 2016 as his band also released their latest album Boxes in May.
