A Florida woman has been charged with manslaughter after her newborn son died when she fell asleep on the boy after giving him a bottle.

Erin Piche-Pitts, 25, was booked into the Polk County Central Jail in Florida on Monday, a little over two months after her 18-day-old son was pronounced dead.

His death came seven years after Piche-Pitts' 13-day-old daughter died from asphyxia, with an autopsy later determined was 'due to probable overlay and co-sleeping.'

Piche-Pitts, who has been arrested multiple times in the past by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, was also charged with possession of methamphetamine in July while pregnant with the boy.

She spent over a month behind bars before being released just before her son's birth according to police records.

Piche-Pitts brought her first daughter home from the hospital in 2009 according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and just before being released from the hospital was warned about the dangers of sharing a bed with the child.

Despite these warnings, less than two weeks later she claims she fell asleep while breastfeeding the baby, and awoke to find her unresponsive.

Angelina Lucina Piche's death was later ruled an accident.

In the years following her daughter's death, Piche-Pitts was arrested for a slew of offenses.

In 2014 she spent over two months in jail after being arrested for possession of methamphetamine, fraud, grand theft and attempted burglary.

She was on probation at the time following arrests in 2011 for battery and 2012 for grand theft.

Piche-Pitts was also arrested in 2010 on a charge of battery.

When she became pregnant with her son, Piche-Pitts was ordered to attend a class detailed the dangers of co-sleeping and instructing her how to put a baby to bed.

She even attended classes on safe sleeping and was giving a detailed talk before talking her son home from the hospital in September.

Despite all this however, when her son woke up 18 days after he was born crying she made him a bottle and put the boy in her arms but then fell asleep.

She woke up hours alter to find him unresponsive, just like her daughter.

Piche-Pitts will be charged with aggravated manslaughter, a first-degree felony, because police determined the child died 'through her own culpable negligence.'
