Lloyd Cole is back in Australia with a new tour, The Retrospective - playing the Lloyd Cole songbook 1983-1996. Lloyd will be performing songs exclusively from this classic period, spanning his time as the lead singer of Lloyd Cole and the Commotions as well as his subsequent and substantial solo work. He's joined on tour by his son Will. Lloyd last visited the Inside Sleeve in 2014, when he was touring his self released Standards album. The success of that release has seen renewed interest in his earlier work and the Lloyd Cole and the Commotions Collected Recordings 1983-1989 Box Set has just been repressed. Lloyd joins me in session and we chat about Bowie, Nile Rodgers and his love of analog synthesizers.

It's one year since David Bowie passed away and we pay tribute to his musical legacy with stunning covers versions of two of his great songs from Sarah Blasko and Amanda Palmer. Both of these tracks were recorded only days after the news of his death. We'll also play a track from the last sessions of his Blackstar album that are a part of the No Plan EP. As well, new music from Laetitia Sadier, Jo Harman and Rebekka Karijord.

Joining us in session as they visit Australia for their second time, the Celtic tinged folk of The Outside Track. The quintet all live in different parts of the world, but their travel regime sees them spending more time together than at home. They released an excellent album in 2015 in Light Up The Dark and pop in to share some tunes before they head to the Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania. They will also be playing at the Illawarra Folk Festival. Plus the Colombian Crunch of Pixvae, gorgeous jazz folk from Lucia Cadotsch and a sneak preview of the upcoming release from The Shins.

There is always a log jam of new releases as the year comes to the end and the tidy up at Inside Sleeve HQ has revealed many albums to share, some of which were found behind the sofa. Aaron Lee Tasjan's second solo album Silver Tears is a fantastic take on country with a psych twist from a guitarist who has 'member of New York Dolls' stamped on his CV. We kick off in a summery fashion with a dose of highlife pop from duo Sacred Paws, the ethereal folk of Eleanor Murray and Quicksails sends us off and up with his latest album Mortal which blends analog synthesizer processes and free jazz twists.
