There are few gags more treasured than the classic cream pie in the face.

And Katy Perry proved this yet again as she was covered in the white stuff after losing out while playing a party game with her sister on Sunday.

Her sibling Angela guffawed with glee when she managed to overcome her famous relative in a game of button bashing, which ended with a generous dollop full of whipped cream being launched towards her face.

And when the toy failed to deliver its payload she took matters into her own hands, smothering the tasty treat all over her 32-year-old sister's face.

But while she lost out fair and square, the California Gurls star proved to be a bad sport, getting a dollop of her own and splatting it over her sibling.

In an hilarious Instagram posting she explained what her festive get together was like, saying: '“When my whole fam tryna have a peaceful holiday... hehehe.'

And it seems her Lord Of The Rings star lover Orlando Bloom is now very much part of the family.

For the 39-year-old also ended up getting a creamy facial, though it seems he lost out due to more nefarious means.

For the Calcium Kid star captioned an Instagram image, which featured a mystery outside party slapping the white stuff onto his features, 'He cheated.'

The fun came after the couple brought some festive cheer to sick kids at Children's Hospital Los Angeles on Monday.

They dressed up as Santa Claus and his saucy little helper for their visit much to the delight of the youngsters and their families.

The hospital posted a series of photos on its Facebook Tuesday showing Katy and Orlando laughing and smiling as they greeted the kids and sang Christmas carols with them.
