Carrie Fisher was looking forward to a new life in a new country.

The Star Wars actress had bought a home in London where she had hoped to settle in nicely, a source told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday.

But that dream never came true as on Tuesday the 60-year-old died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack on a plane from London.

And now her new British friends are stunned she is gone.

'[Carrie’s] close friends were all hoping she’d pull through. They are in shock,' added the source.

Carrie had been enjoying spending time in Europe for the past year.

On social media she shared images of having tea with her dog Gary this summer and hanging out with local policemen.

The star also found plenty of work in the UK.

And the mother of Scream Queens actress Billie Lourd had been in the UK filming season three of Amazon's Catastrophe.

Fisher portrayed Sharon Horgan's mother-in-law.

'Carrie was my friend. It took me three series but I got her in the end. She was the most generous, fun, gifted, smart, kind, funny funny funny person I've ever met,' Horgan posted to Instagram after Fisher's death.

'She certainly wasn't ready to go. I'm so glad we became pals. I'm so devastated at her loss. I want to write about her more but I can't process yet.'

In 2015 Carrie looked happy alongside Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill as she promoted The Force Awakens in Leicester Square.

Carrie was born in Los Angeles to mom Debbie Reynolds of Singin' In The Rain fame and dad Eddie Fisher, who famously left Debbie for Elizabeth Taylor in 1959.

The star lived in LA for decades as she cranked out hits like the Star Wars movies as well as Hannah And Her Sisters, When Harry Met Sally... and Soapdish.

Traveling: The icon also documented her travels on Twitter. She had been in Bruges, Belgium on December 20

Also on Wednesday Variety reported that Carrie is set to appear in two upcoming episodes of Fox’s animated comedy Family Guy.

The star had completed voice-acting work for the two episodes, which will premiere on dates yet to be determined.

She started playing Angela, supervisor to Seth MacFarlane’s Peter Griffin at the brewery where he works, in 2005, and went on to appear in 20 episodes.

The script doctor was last on Family Guy on January 3.

Next year she will also be seen in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is due out December 15, 2017.
