It is the second serious incident on a bus in the area in a matter of months, after a court case in Birmingham in June which heard how a 16-year-old student stabbed another teenager on the top deck of the No.14 bus because he would not shake hands.

The victim was knifed in the arm and back during the sickening attack as it travelled towards Alum Rock.

The injured youngster fled and flagged down a Good Samaritan who drove the boy to Heartlands Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

The defendant, who was studying for his GCSEs, was sentenced to a two-year youth rehabilitation order.

It included six months strict supervision with 'intensive surveillance' and an electronic tag and curfew.
