Boy, 6, is locked on a freezing balcony in his pyjamas for 15 hours by his parents because he ate Christmas leftovers without permission

A six-year-old boy suffering from hypothermia was rushed to hospital in Brussels after his parents locked him on a freezing balcony after accusing him of taking food from the kitchen. 

The child was locked outside in freezing conditions for 15 hours as a punishment on Boxing Day according to prosecutors in Brussels. 

It is alleged the youngster was forced outside between 5am and 8pm after nibbling on Christmas leftovers.

Local media reported that the Brussels Prosecutor's Office claimed the boy was found 'unconscious and suffering from hypothermia and malnutrition'. 

The child is 'still in a critical condition'. 

The youngster's twin sister was also rushed to hospital while officials investigate allegations she also suffered mistreatment and malnutrition. 

The children's mother and step father have both been arrested on suspicion of torturing the youngsters. 

According to The Sun, the mother is a French national while the step father is from Belgium.
