And clearly Ryan Gosling and La La Land director Damien Chazelle can't wait to work together again - as they are set to team up once again according to THR on Thursday.

The 36-year-old actor has signed up to play Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, in a Chazelle directed biopic.

The movie has a stellar team, with Chazelle taking one giant la la leap from a musical, to adapting the book First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James Hansen for the big screen.

The script has been written by Josh Singer, the Oscar-winning co-writer of Spotlight.

Ryan stars as the astronaut who became the first man to set foot on the moon, in July 1969.

The Nice Guys actor has reportedly been orbiting the project since late 2015, but it was only in December that a deal was reached.

Shooting is expected to start next year.

Armstrong was an officer in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War before becoming an astronaut.  After the war, he earned his bachelor's degree at Purdue University and served as a test pilot in the 1950 and 1960s.

According to studio sources, the movie will aim to tell the story of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission to land a man on the moon in the 1960s.

The 31-year-old director already scored five Oscar nominations for Whiplash last year and his La La Land has emerged as one of the top movies this awards season.

The movie scored seven Golden Globe nominations, including one for Chazelle, for directing, and Gosling, for acting. Gosling also nabbed a SAG nomination.

Gosling recently wrapped production on Blade Runner 2049 with Harrison Ford.

He has two daughters with Eva Mendes.
