Is THAT why they split? Mariah Carey found James Packer's Hunter Valley estate 'a little too outback' during brief holiday in Australia

As the world's most famous pop diva, she's known for enjoying the finer things.

But Mariah Carey's usually comfortable life had a brief interlude early this year, and The Sydney Morning Herald reports she was not impressed.

After a New Year's Eve performance at Melbourne's Crown Casino and a trip to Sydney Harbour, the songstress was flown to James Packer's family estate Ellerston in regional New South Wales.

Not happy? Mariah Carey (pictured) is rumoured to have been a little overwhelmed by her trip to regional NSW early this year to visit ex-fiancé James Packer's family estate near Scone

But according to the publication, it was 'a little too much outback' for Mariah.

As she walked across the tarmac at Tamworth Airport from a Packer family helicopter to a private jet, she reportedly struggled with the scorching heat and pesky flies while attempting to get phone reception.

Dressed in jeans, sky-high heels and a black top, the 46-year-old was photographed at the time walking with her head bowed and holding her child's hand.

Mariah's so-called 'diva antics' were rumoured to have caused tension with James.

In October, News Corp reported her 'extravagant spending' was the reason behind her split from the casino mogul.

Despite the reports of her dislike for the Australian outback, Mariah was nothing short of complimentary ahead of the trip.

'I can't wait to get back to Australia, I have so many of my friends and fans there and the country really means so much to me,' she told The Sydney Morning Herald at the time.

She also appeared delighted at the idea of seeing the property and travelling around the country with her children and James.

'Australia is such a wonderful country and being able to spend some time with James and my family in Melbourne, Sydney and Ellerston makes the trip so special,' she said.

James Packer and Mariah Carey have been contacted for comment.
