Dead? Hugh Jackman looked run-down and grey in a poster for his final Wolverine film 'Logan, sparking fan rumours his character would die on screen

The 48-year-old looked run-down and grey as his celebrated character walked off into the sunset in the image.

The X-Men hunk's broad shoulders nestled into a suave suit, as he exposed his buff upper chest in a button-down shirt.

He looked downcast as his full, unkempt beard appeared patchy and grey.

Through the piercing orange sunset his usually dapper dark hair was forlorn and tinged with the same silver streaks as his facial hair.

'Sunset. LOGAN. 3.3.17' read the cryptic caption.

Dapper: The 48-year-old was a shadow of his dapper self in the poster, his dark hair was messy and tinged with the same silver streaks as his facial hair.

Walking off into the sunset is a piece of symbolism generally associated with closure, retirement, or often death.

Hugh's fans were quick to jump on the rumour mill, bleeding their emotions into the comment section.

'So excited, but so sad at the same time.' Wrote one fan.

Meltdown: Many fans couldn't contain their emotions, as they took to the comment section to voice their concerns. 'Why sunset? ! Is he going to die !?' Wrote one fan

Another could barely contain their excitement: 'THIS FILM.... will be considered one of the BEST comic book movies of all time. Mark my words. It'll be up there with Dark Knight (sic)'

Others, were less rational about the news: 'Why sunset? ! Is he going to die !?'

'What will i do man plse man don't leave this role please i beg you (sic).' Pleaded one distraught commenter.
