'I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them': Lindsay Lohan desperate for Tina Fey to greenlight Mean Girls sequel
With her career at a crossroads, Lindsay Lohan is looking to revive the smash that put her on the map.
The 30-year-old on Thursday, speaking with CNN and Facebook Live, said she's been hard at work pushing for a sequel to the 2004 comedy Mean Girls, which made more than $129 million internationally in its theatrical run, and put the red-headed actress squarely in the Hollywood spotlight.
'I have been trying so hard to do a Mean Girls 2 - it is not in my hands,' LiLo said, adding she understands that the film's screenwriter Tina Fey and producer Lorne Michaels 'are very busy' with other projects.

Second act? Lindsay Lohan, 30, told CNN and Facebook Live Thursday she's 'been trying so hard to do a Mean Girls 2,' but the ultimate decision is out of her hands
Launching pad: The film helped establish LiLo, then 18, as a box office draw and international celebrity
Blockbuster: The 2004 movie, which was produced by Lorne Michaels and written by Tina Fey, took in more than $129 million globally
'But I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them until we do it,' the raspy-voiced beauty vowed.
The pop culture lightning rod revealed she's put a lot of thought into a second act to the high school-based comedy, ranging from storylines to star power.
'I've already written a treatment for it, so I just need a response,' Lohan said, adding that she 'would love to have Jamie Lee Curtis and Jimmy Fallon in the movie.'
Getting prepared: Lohan said she's already written material for a potential sequel, and that she would love to feature Jamie Lee Curtis and Jimmy Fallon in the film

She added, 'I know Mark Waters, the director,' and 'he’d happily come back”
The original film cast Lohan as Cady Heron, whose foray into public school is highlighted by her interactions with a ruthless clique called the Plastics, consisting of Regina George (Rachel McAdams), Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert) and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried). The cast also included Fey, Amy Poehler, Daniel Franzese and Lizzy Caplan.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in 2014, Fey said that she'd considered developing a sequel at one point, but decided against it.
Successful graduates: Both Rachel McAdams, 38, and Amanda Seyfried, 31, have enjoyed strong careers in the dozen years since the film's release
'At the time we did want to start the conversation about the sequel, and for whatever reason, I was like, "No!!! We shouldn’t do that!"' she said. 'Now I look back and I’m like, "Why?" But now, no - it’s too late now.'
That same year, in an interview with Time Out London, Lohan said she wasn't giving up on trying to convince Fey to pen an updated installment to the beloved film.
'I was with Tina Fey the other day and I said, "We should do another Mean Girls, like an older version where they're all housewives and they're all cheating" - that would be really funny,' she said, adding that she would 'harass Tina to write it.'
In the chat, Lohan - who was engaged to Russian businessman Egor Tarabasov, before calling things off this past summer - said that she's newly enlightened in her pursuit of happiness.
'I fell in love with loving myself,' she said, 'and that was the most important thing that happened to me in life.'
The lady in red: Lindsay has made countless headlines as a tabloid fixture over the past 12 years, since the film established her as a Hollywood sensation
