Festive superstar Mariah Carey is well known for her over-the-top Christmas spirit.

This year she passed on the holiday traditions by building gingerbread houses with her 5-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

The 46-year-old diva took to Instagram to send New Year's wishes to fans and show off the family's skills.

Festive family: Mariah Carey and family shared their holiday wishes with followers on Friday

In a short video, the Honey singer and her family are seen relaxing in a palatial home which decorating some gingerbread houses.

The diva wore a pair of blue flannel pajamas while son Moroccan rocked a red-and-grey plaid pair. Daughter Monroe sported pink PJs with matching glasses.

The twins are from Mariah's six-year marriage with 36-year-old Nick Cannon. The May-December romance ended with the Wild And Out host filing divorce in 2014.

The New York-born beauty smiled at the camera while holding a bag of icing. Her hair looked low-key but glam pulled back into a ponytail with a single curl framing the celeb's face.

Before getting a word out, the chart-topper is interrupted by her son who tells the camera 'Merry Happy New Year cause Christmas is already over'.

Mariah laughs at the camera and repeats the well-wishes adding: 'Thank you so much to our friends, well, you know who you are. Thank you for this beautiful home.'

The star's hosts are the rental startup Airbnb, who paid for her trip.

Thursday the star thanked the brand on Instagram with the message: 'We've had the most amazing holidays, dahlings! Thank you @airbnb for the gift of this beautiful home & trip to Aspen.'

The family are enjoying their stay in a $22 million Aspen condo courtesy of the San Francisco based company.

This year, the star opened up her life to the world for her reality show Mariah's World. The E! series has fueled much speculation about the star's love life.

The Heartbreaker was engaged to Australian business man James Packer until October but recently, the star's been spotted cosying up to backup dancer Brian Tanaka.

At a party for the Touch My Body songstress's 46th birthday, the 33-year-old performed a provocative dance while wearing just a bow-tie and trousers, choosing to show off his dancer bod by going shirtless.

There's been no official confirmation of the pair's relationship, but Bryan was lucky enough to join the star and her children during their snowy stay in Aspen.
