Known as Baz to his friends, he was remembered as a keen rugby league player, a mentor to local boys, and the father of two adult daughters. Friends of Mr Walsh tied a bunch of flowers to a fence overlooking the beach and wrote tributes on the wooden posts next to it. He was one of two men killed by fireworks on New Year's Eve around the country, and another four were injured.

Michael was found dead on Christmas Day at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. The Careless Whisper singer - whose real name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou - was found in his bed by Fawaz, who had gone to wake him up ahead of a planned Christmas Day lunch. In a series of tweets this morning, he wrote: 'Not sure who that nasty close friend of George but i was in relationship (sic) with george micheal till i found him dead in bed. 'The only thing George wanted is to DIE. He tried numbers of time to kill himself many times...'

A couple who both have Down syndrome have shared photos of the magical day they wed in a ceremony attended by 200 guests. Polly and Joe met eight years ago when they were both college students in Sussex, UK. The pair said their attraction was instant and have made things official by tying the knot in a ceremony that included a unicorn throne and singing waiters.

Music revellers have celebrated New Year's Day at Field Day despite the overcast weather. On a gloomy day in Sydney music fans have flocked to Field Day to kick-off 2017 with some colourful outfits and talented artists on show to brighten up the day. More than 28,000 partygoers attended the annual event, which is famous for featuring a mix of prominent artists including locals Alison Wonderland and Hermitude, Chance The Rapper, SAFIA and ZHU.

It was a wild night of celebrations and booze-fuelled mayhem on the streets of Britain last night as revellers welcomed in 2017 - and no one was wrapping up warm. Millions of party-goers packed out pubs and clubs, with some braving freezing temperatures in skimpy outfits. However, as Britons waved goodbye to 2016, there were some unsavoury scenes, with one shirtless man seen kicking another man lying in a gutter in Manchester. For many, the name of the game was to drink to the point of oblivion, with dozens of party-goers unable to stand or speak, and having to be helped home by their friends.

New Year's Eve celebrations have continued into daylight at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Sunday morning. Women went topless as people could be seen playing in the surf at sand at the famed eastern suburbs beach. Others rang in the new year appearing to be passed out on the beach.

Donald Trump has promised to reveal new information after Russia's alleged hacking during the election on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. The president-elect made the remark when pressed by reporters after he arrived at his New Year's Ever bash at the Mar-a-Lago resort. 'I think it's unfair if they don't know. And I know a lot about hacking. And hacking is a very hard thing to prove. So it could be someone else. And I also know things that other people don't know, and so they cannot be sure of the situation,' Trump said. When asked by the reporter what the president-elect knows that others do not, he said: 'You'll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday.' Earlier, those attending the party - including Sylvester Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin - were seen walking the red carpet. Guests were served, 'Mr Trump's Wedge Salad' (inset) as part of the menu.

Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced their divorce in September. Now the pair are embroiled in a bitter custody battle. Pitt told a friend that this has been 'the worst holiday season of his life' but as he goes into the New Year his friends say he's determined to get his kids back, no matter what.'

A fight between two friends in Sydney just before the countdown to 2017 has been caught on camera as they smashed through a fence and wrestled an hour before midnight on December 31. The pair were outside a mechanic's in Sydenham when one tackled the other through a fence. It took a third man putting one of the fighters in a headlock for the fight to be broken up. Eventually, the pair embraced each other and left the scene.

A Thai crocodile trainer has amazingly escaped serious injury after a three metre man-eater grabbed a hold of his arm and performed a 'death roll'. Anusak Salangam, 47, was filmed entertaining a small crowd at Phuket Crocodile World on Friday when the show went horribly wrong after Mr Anusak inserted his right arm into its jaws. Mr Anusak is reported to have returned to work the following day.

Luann de Lesseps is a married woman once again, with the Real Housewives of New York star and her beau Tom D'Agostino (left on Friday) officially becoming husband and wife on Saturday evening. It was the second marriage but first actual wedding for Luann, who eloped back in 1993 with her first husband, Count Alexandre de Lesseps. Luann's New York co-star Dorinda Medley (bototm right) was among the guests at the wedding, bringing along her longtime boyfriend John Mehdessian. Not among the guest were Luann's other four New York co-stars, who declined to attend the event. Other Housewives who were on hand for the ceremony included former New York cast members Jill Zarin and Kelly Bensimon (top rigth), current Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey, and Marysol Patton, who starred in the now-cancelled Miami edition of the show.

Otou Yumi, from Nara, southern Japan, continues to live with his three children and wife, Katayama, who perseveres in making conversation with him but has only ever received a nod or a grunt in response for 20 years. The Japanese couple's silence was revealed by their 18-year-old son Yoshiki, who wrote into a TV show asking them to fix the situation as he had never heard them have a conversation. And sure enough, a meeting was arranged between them in the park where they had their first date, as their emotional children watched on.

They are the smallest twins ever born in Britain - and their devastated parents were told there was only a one in ten chance they would survive. But a year later, a thriving Rylea and Robyn weigh a healthy 14lb each and have celebrated their first Christmas at home with their mum and dad. The girls were born an astonishing 23 weeks into the pregnancy of mother Claire Cunliffe. Rylea was a mere 15oz, while sister Robyn was a touch heavier at 1lb 3oz.

The 1941 confession (bottom right) from the first man to escape Melbourne Pentridge Prison (top right) has been released by the Public Record Office Victoria. Kenneth Raymond Jones (left) was 20 years-old at when he escaped the prison. In his statement, he detailed the prison break and his two weeks on the run across Victoria before being caught in Sydney.

Amanda Nunes shared an edited photo on Twitter in the early hours of Saturday, making it look as if she is pushing an upset Ronda Rousey in a baby stroller (left). The 28-year-old Brazilian champion also appears to be clutching her bantamweight belt, which she earned in July and fiercely defended against Rousey Friday night. The mocking picture came hours after the fight between Nunes and Rousey at UFC 207 (upper and bottom right) was called in just 48 seconds, ending Rousey's hope for a triumphant comeback in Las Vegas. Nunes has relentlessly derided her former rival since her victory, calling for Rousey's retirement and predicting her a new career in film. Rousey's own mother called for her daughter to retire after her brutal defeat.

Two puppies who grew up together on a dog meat farm have been reunited after being rescued and adopted by different families in the USA. Kenji and Sophia, both white Samoyeds, were used at the farm to breed puppies that would be killed for food. They were rescued last year, and after months apart saw each other for the first time recently.

A crocodile has wandered onto a property and sat in the yard before locals and police created a wall of wheelie bins (inset) in an attempt to shepherd him towards the water. The three-and-a-half metre croc (main) swaggered into the backyard of a Karumba house in far north Queensland on Saturday from about 6am, before walking around the front of the house where he sat for the rest of the day.

A beauty blogger has created a DIY Nutella fcae mask that she says will get rid of blackheads as well as rejuvenating and hydrating the skin. Habiba, a make-up artist with more than 277,000 followers on social media, uploaded a video to Instagram showing the process. The young woman used cocoa powder, milk, gelatin and honey to create the mask, which dries on the skin and is then peeled off.
