UFC superstar Ronda Rousey receives $3 MILLION for her return fight in Vegas (despite losing) - while her triumphant opponent gets just $200,000

  • Rousey is returning after more than a year away from the sport on Friday night
  • The 29-year-old will square off with bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes
  • Rousey's massive pay packet equals what Conor McGregor received at UFC 202
  • Nunes will get just $100,000 - but could claim a win bonus of an extra $100,000

UFC superstar Ronda Rousey will earn $3 million before she steps into the Octagon for her return fight.

Rousey, who will square off against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in Las Vegas for the bantamweight championship, will pocket the money win, lose, or draw.

There is no win bonus included in the $3 million purse, ESPN reports.

The figure matches what fellow superstar Conor McGregor reportedly received for his fight with Nate Diaz in August at UFC 202.

Rousey's purse dwarfs what Nunes is expected to receive, with Sports Illustrated reporting she will receive $100,000, while also having an additional $100,000 win bonus.

Both figures could see their paychecks increase based on the amount of money generated from pay-per-view buys.

Friday's fight is Rousey's first since she was beaten by Holly Holm in November last year.

Rousey appeared for her weigh-in on Thursday, the final official step before her return fight.

The 29-year-old climbed on the scale and glared into the distance while the crowd roared. Moments later, she directed that withering gaze at Nunes - who stared right back at her.

Rousey then left the stage at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday without a word to Nunes or the thousands of fans gathered largely to support her at the weigh-in on the eve of UFC 207.

'I'm not sure how it's going to be, but she could do a lot of things,' Nunes said. 'Nobody knows, but I know I'm going to be ready. We will see about her.'

Just don't ask Rousey what she thinks. She has largely refused to promote her fight, even declining to speak to the UFC's broadcast team after stepping on the scale.

The UFC reluctantly agreed to Rousey's media blackout, realizing it could cost the promotion untold numbers of pay-per-view buys.

'It's definitely not ideal,' UFC President Dana White said of Rousey's decision. 'It's what she asked for.'

Rousey (12-1) was arguably the most dominant mixed martial arts fighter in the young sport's history until she lost her belt 13 months ago in a stunning knockout. After devoting a year to getting back on top, Rousey is determined to earn her redemption Friday night with her skills, not her words.

The star did comment after her weigh-in on social media, sending a message to her fans on Instagram.

'Looking forward to proving you all right tomorrow,' Rousey said. 'It's going to be the happiest New Year ever.'
