Mauricio Pochettino insists whole Premier League wants Tottenham to halt Chelsea's winning charge: 'We want the country's support'

Mauricio Pochettino wants to feel the rest of the Premier League are behind Tottenham when they take on leaders Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The Spurs boss thinks his title challengers can capture the imagination like Leicester did last season following a 'nearly perfect' performance at Watford.

'Maybe we will feel how Leicester felt last season — all the teams were with them and against us,' said the Argentine after Harry Kane and Dele Alli scored twice apiece in a 4-1 win.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes the rest of the Premier League wants his side to stop Chelsea's 13-match winning streak when the teams meet on Wednesday

The win at Watford took Tottenham third but they were overtaken again by Arsenal

'Chelsea will be a tough game but a good opportunity for us to stop them and reduce the (10-point) gap. It's important for the Premier League and for us.'

On his team's resounding win, Pochettino added: 'I'm very pleased with the performance. The first half was great, one of the best performances so far. It was nearly a perfect game.

'The shame was we conceded a goal in the last minute, but there were a lot of positive things.'

Tottenham used a 3-5-2 system, a variation on Chelsea's 3-4-3 that sparked their 13-match winning run.

Pochettino could use the formation again on Wednesday in a bid to prevent Chelsea securing yet another victory.

But the Spurs boss said: 'For us, the formation isn't important. The most important thing is how we move the ball. It's the idea, the philosophy of what you want to do with the ball.'

Kane revealed Spurs are desperate to stop Chelsea equalling Arsenal's Premier League record of 14 straight wins.

'The Chelsea match is massive, so we'll recover and go hard,' he said. 'We just need to go out there and beat them and stop their winning run.'

Watford midfielder Adlene Guedioura pulled no punches in assessing his team's display.

'It was embarrassing,' he said. 'I want to apologise to all the fansbecause it was not acceptable.'
