HBO moves up premiere date for Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds documentary Bright Lights

HBO announced Friday that they'll premiere Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds on January 7.

The cable network changed the air date for the Hollywood dynasty documentary following the tragic deaths of the mother-daughter duo on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens' 95-minute film - which screened at Cannes in May - captured the formerly-estranged actresses' extraordinary and eccentric bond.

'It's a love story,' HBO Documentary Films president Sheila Nevins told Variety on Wednesday.

'Carrie wanted to make Bright Lights for Debbie and Debbie wanted to make it for Carrie.'

Nevins added: 'If this was a Hollywood script, no one would believe it. They just loved each other so much. The bond was just unbreakable.'

Fisher had previously penned Mike Nichols' 1990 film Postcards from the Edge (starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine) about her rocky relationship with Reynolds.

HBO will also air an encore presentation of the NY Times Bestseller's 2010 one-woman show at the Geffen Playhouse - Wishful Drinking - this Sunday.

Star Wars fans can catch the 60-year-old Emmy nominee - who died of cardiac arrest - one last time as General Leia Organa in Episode VIII due out December 15, 2017.
