UFC hero Conor McGregor looks sharp in suit at sister Aoife's wedding in Ireland... as superstar continues to enjoy his break from the octagon

UFC superstar Conor McGregor is well known for his ruthless approach inside the octagon as well as his abrasive trash-talking outside of it.

However, the Irish fighter proved he possesses a softer side after attending the wedding of his sister, Aoife, on New Year's Eve.

McGregor is currently on a 10-month hiatus from the UFC as he prepares to become a father for the first time with his long-time girlfriend, Dee Devlin.

Devlin showed off her baby bump as a bridesmaid at the wedding in Enniskerry, a small village south of Dublin, while UFC lightweight champion McGregor acted as a groomsman for Aoife's fiance, Mark Elliot.

Both McGregor and Devlin stopped to take part in family photographs with the newlyweds outside St. Mary's Church before heading to a reception at the nearby Powerscourt Hotel.

McGregor took to social media to provide his fans a glimpse of the wedding reception from inside the venue.

The 28-year-old posted pictures of himself alongside various members of his family, including his father, Tony. 

'My father and I, at the wedding of his daughter, and my sister Aoife,' McGregor said. 

'What a time to be alive! God bless and happy New Year to all my family, my friends and my fans! We are going to toast tonight!'

McGregor also uploaded a photo of himself alongside his coach, John Kavanagh, who he has been training with since his early days in MMA.

McGregor has not fought since his emphatic second-round victory over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 on November 12.

After beating Alvarez, McGregor became the first fighter in UFC's history to hold titles in two divisions simultaneously, although he was later forced to give up his featherweight belt, having not fought in the division for nearly a year.

Speaking on his decision to strip McGregor of the featherweight title, UFC boss Dana White told UFC Unfiltered: 'That belt hadn't been defended in almost a year and Conor is taking another 10 months off for maternity.

'It's not fair on the rest of the guys in that division.'

McGregor has toyed with the idea of moving into professional wrestling, boxing and films in recent months and it is unclear when, or if, he will decide to step back into the octagon.

He will, however, make an appearance in the next season of HBO's hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

'I knew that a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show,' White told Fox Sports.

'And I'm glad he did it. It'll be great.'
