British traveller Stacey Tierney found dead in Melbourne gentlemen's club

Stacey Tierney, a 29-year-old British woman travelling around Australia, spent up to 12 hours dead at Melbourne's Dreams Gentlemen's Club on December 18 before her body was found. Ms Tierney, a fitness instructor from Manchester, is believed to have been partying with a group of unknown men in a room at the strip club where she was allegedly working while it was closed. The men reportedly fled the strip club after Ms Tierney died. Police said they investigating the young woman's death.

Drowning death toll rises to 18 across New South Wales and Australia

An 83-year-old man is the latest person to die, after he was found in a swimming pool on Sydney's northern beaches at around 10pm on Monday. British photographer William Hope caught 'ghost like' images in the 1920's

It was a time when spiritualism was hugely popular and there was a mystique surrounding photography's process. And British photographer William Hope made the most of a 1920s society that yearned to learn more about the paranormal to produce this striking set of 'spirit photographs' which had the world captivated at the time. Mr Hope - who was part of the infamous Crewe Circle, a spiritualist photography group in the Staffordshire town - was supported by many of his contemporaries including Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. But his work was later discredited after investigators discovered that he had used a photographic process called double exposure, where a single image is created by exposing the film several times.
