Now that's a dream ticket! Airline surprises stunned honeymooners with first class upgrade and a £24k-A-NIGHT hotel room

  • British Airways surprised Hanna and Tom Bowran this month at Heathrow
  • Couple had previously postponed honeymoon after their baby was born sick
  • As a result, they were flown first class to New York and got a Presidential suite

It's quite literally the dream ticket - a first class plane ticket and a ludicrously expensive hotel room, gifted completely out of the blue.

Which is exactly what Cambridge newlyweds Hanna and Tom Bowran received at London's Heathrow airport when they showed up for their honeymoon flight to New York this December.

British Airways upgraded them to first class and booked them into the Intercontinental New York Barclay hotel, where they stayed in the $30,000-a-night (£24,000) Presidential suite - with the surprise moment captured in a heartwarming video.

The airline had chosen Mr and Mrs Bowran to receive the fairy tale experience after it heard of the couple's recent struggles following their wedding.

After marrying last October, their daughter Lucy was born suffering from a rare condition called craniosynostosis which meant she needed vital hospital treatment.

As a result, they had to postpone their dream honeymoon - which is when British Airways stepped in.

After a luxurious first class flight, Mr and Mrs Bowran were checked into their 3,400-square-foot presidential suite; where they marvelled at the marble entrance, gym, library office and grand piano.

'It's bigger than our house,' Mrs Bowran remarks in the video.

She added: 'It’s been a rollercoaster of a year for us both, and the trip has been emotional as it’s the first time we’d left Lucy to take some time for ourselves.

'It was my first visit to New York, and it’s true what they say – New York is a magical place, especially in the build up to Christmas, it was the perfect place to celebrate our marriage.'

British Airways is now inviting customers who have booked a trip with them in 2017 to email their stories in, for the chance to win the same treatment.
