Mariah Carey proved that she was just like millions of other Americans the week before her epic New Year's Eve meltdown in Times Square as she was photographed doing some last minute shopping just before Christmas.

It was not presents for her two young children Mariah seemed to be after however, with the 47-year-old pop star and her entourage spotted heading into a marijuana dispensary in the Colorado resort town of Aspen called The Original Leaf.

Mariah, who wore a green ballgown and sunglasses for the evening outing, smiled at photographers while walking in and out of the store.

She topped off her look with a red and black checkered coat and $300 cashmere from Moncler, along with a pair of Santa mittens she elected to hold in her hands rather than wear and sky-high platform heels.

Mariah was not seen carrying any bags with her as she left after perusing the store with her crew, which included her manager Stella Bulochnikov.

The photos were taken exactly one week before Mariah walked off the stage during a nightmare performance of songs including 'Emotions' and 'We Belong Together.'

Mariah and her team have placed the blame on Dick Clark Productions, who were responsible for the special that aired on Saturday, 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest.'

DCP fired back with a statement of their own, taking issue with Mariah's rep suggesting they purposely sabotaged the singer and revealing Mariah never rehearsed on site before the show.

That claim was later proven to be false however, when TMZ obtained photos of Mariah performing a sound check in Times Square.

No laughing matter: Mariah's trip to the dispensary occurred just one week prior to her Times Square meltdown (above talking with a friend outside the store)

Disbelief: 'I want a holiday, too. Can I not have one? I’m trying to be a good sport here,' asked Mariah at one point as her performance deteriorated

'The Original Leaf sets the standard for top quality freshness, texture, flavour and variety,' reads the dispensary's website.

'Our naturally grown cannabis is produced without the standard array of potentially harmful, environmentally long-lasting agricultural chemicals commonly used since the 1950s.

'Yet organic farming isn't primitive, it's actually farming with our future at heart.'

The store offers a variety of recreational edibles, topicals, dab bars and recreational marijuana.

Mariah's New Year's Eve performance was heavily hyped for weeks before it aired on ABC, and things began to go bad for the singer early on in her performance.

The Grammy-winning songstress stopped singing at various point during her performance while prerecorded tracks of her vocals continued to play.

While singing 'Auld Lang Syne' Mariah's lips were not in sync with the vocals that were being broadcast by ABC.

Then, as the music and vocals to her first major hit 'Emotions' began to play, Mariah stood on stage and pulled out her ear piece.

Better days: Mariah stumbled through her three-song set on new Year's Eve in Times Square a week after the trip

Mad for plaid: Mariah was in high spirits as she chatted and laughed with her entourage heading into the store

Making friends: Mariah speaks to a gentleman outside the weed store the day before Christmas

Spotted: Mariah carried around a pair of Santa mittens during the shopping trip, which she never wore on her hands

Selection: The store offers a variety of recreational edibles, topicals, dab bars and recreational marijuana.

That is when Mariah said: 'Well, happy New Year! We can’t hear, but I’ll just get through the moment, okay.'

She then began to look down at the ground as if she were in search of her ear piece, saying: 'I feel...'

Mariah never finished that thought though, and instead announced to the audience: 'All right. We didn't have a check for this song, so we'll just say it went to number one.'

She also pleaded with the production crew to put on the monitors.

At this point she was clearly agitated and frustrated, telling the crowd: 'I want a holiday, too. Can I not have one? I’m trying to be a good sport here.'

Mariah did eventually stumble through the song, announcing at the end: 'That was … amazing.'

On her own: mariah went into thr store with her group but left on her own last Saturday (above)

Fun trip: Mariah was all smiles as she left, unaware of what a difficult night she would be having one week later

Covered up: Mariah stopped singing to pre-recorded backing tracks throughout her New Year's Eve performance

Share the news: Mariah ran out of the store smiling and went to speak to a member of her entourage who was outside (above)

Ready for the ball: It is unclear if this was Mariah's look for the day or she had plans to go out after her shopping trip

There were problems yet again however when she launched into her next song, 'We Belong Together.'

The singer attempted to be trying her best to keep it together before she began that number, saying: 'Now this is the album version, so I’m just going to let you put this thing on me and sing along.'

Her live vocals failed to match up with the prerecorded ones though during the song, and as she came to the end of the song yelled out: 'Bring the feathers on. Yes!'

Then, as the large, white oversized feather that the dancers had been using fanned around her, she said: 'You just don’t get any better.'

That is when Mariah, who was dressed in a sheer, nude gown, simply walked off the stage.

She posted a GIF of herself turning up her hands and shrugging on Instagram shortly after, writing: 'S*** happens.'

History: The Original Leaf (above) was founded as a medical marijuana dispensary in July of 2009

No word: The dispensary has not made any mention of Mariah being at the store on their social media accounts

Firing back: Mariah has blamed her New Year's Eve performance problems on Dick Clark Productions, who produced the show

Rep statement: 'She was not ‘winging’ this moment and took it very seriously. A shame that production set her up to fail,' said Mariah's publicist Nicole Berna

Abd mnore: The piublicist said Mariah's ear piece was not working properly, something that the singer told both the stage manager and production team about

Fighting words: 'Instead of endeavoring to fix the issue so that Mariah could perform, they went live,' Mariah's publicist said of the production company

Elsewhere on social media many began to ridicule Mariah and her performance, with many believing she just gave up and could not be bothered to even try and sing.

That is not the case however according to the singer's publicist, who spoke with Billboard about what they believe caused the problems with Mariah's three-song set.

'She was not ‘winging’ this moment and took it very seriously. A shame that production set her up to fail,' said Mariah's rep Nicole Berna.

She also claimed that Mariah's ear piece was not working properly, something that the singer told both the stage manager and production team about.

'They told her it would be fine once she was on stage. However, that was not the case and they were again told that her ear piece was not working,' said Berna.

'Instead of endeavoring to fix the issue so that Mariah could perform, they went live.'

The production company was quick to respond to these allegations, calling them 'absurd.'

Hard of hearing: Mariah said her earpiece was always a problem and that she told the production crew on new Year's Eve (above ripping out earpiece during show)

Moves: Mariah was also criticized by some on social media for her lack of movement or dancing during the show

Down: After botching her third performance of the night, Mariah said at the end of the number: 'You just don’t get any better'

Part of the problem?: Mariah did not attend the dress rehearsal for the event, and instead sent a stand in (above)

Better times: Mariah was all smiles while chatting with Ryan Seacrest before her performance on Saturday with her 5-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe

Dick Clark Productions said in a statement: 'As the premier producer of live television events for nearly 50 years, we pride ourselves on our reputation and long-standing relationships with artists.

'To suggest that dcp (Dick Clark Productions), as producer of music shows including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and Academy of Country Music Awards, would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd.'

The statement did not attack Mariah however, and instead praised the singer.

'We want to be clear that we have the utmost respect for Ms Carey as an artist and acknowledge her tremendous accomplishments in the industry,' it read.

Prior to the Saturday, Mariah and Dick Clark Productions had a stellar relationship, with the singer chosen to perform in 2005 at their first New Year's Eve party in Times Square.
