'You are perverted': Gospel singer Kim Burrell faces backlash after calling homosexuality a 'sin' during sermon at church she founded in Houston

Gospel singer Kim Burrell has a song on the soundtrack to the new movie Hidden Figures and is scheduled to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres Show next week with musician Pharrell.

But she's facing controversy after a video started circulating on social media showing Burrell, a pastor at the Love & Liberty Fellowship Church in Houston, condemning the sin of homosexuality.

Burrell, 44, is videotaped as she gives a sermon in which she describes homosexual acts as 'perverted' and homosexuality as 'the spirit of delusion.'

'I came to tell you about sin. That sin nature. That perverted homosexual spirit, and the spirit of delusion and confusion, it has deceived many men and women, and it’s caused us pain on the body of Christ,' she said, according to BET.com

'You as a man, you open your mouth and take a man’s penis in your face, you are perverted… You are a woman and will shake your face in another woman’s breast, you are perverted,' she added.

Pharrell and Burrell collaborated on the song I See A Victory for the movie based on a true story of black female mathematicians who worked unsung at NASA in the early days of the space program.

A respinse: Pharrell, an outspoken advocate of gay rights, took to Twitter Saturday to post a statement condemning 'hate speech of any kind'

On Saturday, Pharrell appeared to respond via Twitter to the video from the gospel singer.

'I condemn hate speech of any kind,' the Happy hitmaker tweeted.  'There is no room in the world for any kind of prejudice. My greatest hope is for inclusion and love for all humanity in 2017 and beyond.'

So far there's been no word from DeGeneres, who is openly gay, about having Burrell as a guest on her hit chat show.

In the wake of the backlash against her, Burrell appeared on Facebook Live Friday evening to respond to the criticism.

She insisted she was attacking sin and not the LGBT community.

Explanation: On Friday evening, Burrell had appeared on Facebook Live to clarify her remarks and insist that she doesn't hate homosexuals, just the sin

'We’re not in a war against flesh and blood,' the minister and performer said in the livestream.

'I care about God’s creation and every person from the LGBT and anything else, any other kind of thing that is supporting gay… I never said LGBT last night. I said S-I-N and whatever else falls in the sin was preached,' she explained.

Burrell claimed an 'enemy' was responsible for framing her speech in a negative light.

'To every person who is dealing with the homosexual spirit, I love you because God loves you,' she said. 'But God hates the sin.'
