He is the pint-sized star of the critically acclaimed Lion.

And eight-year-old Sunny Pawar won a host of new fans after his appearance with co-star Dev Patel at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

The dynamic duo lit up the red carpet at the event in Beverly Hills, before going on stage together in front of some of the biggest stars of film and television.

The young Indian actor seemed to have a great time as the meandered on stage, grinning as Dev introduced their film, which was nominated for the best drama motion picture award.

The crowd cheered as he walked onstage, and he received rapturous applause after being lifted up to the microphone to say, 'This is our movie, Lion.'

The youngster looked cute as a button in his miniature tuxedo, which he wore with green and black shoes.

Indeed his English sidekick Dev, 26, opted for the same outfit, though he wisely opted for a more age-appropriate pair of shiny leather shoes.

There was disappointment ahead for the pair, as the Garth Davis film ended up losing out to Moonlight, a portrait of modern day African American life.

It will have been a bitter blow, as the outcome is seen as a predictor of how the Academy Awards might go in February.

The Golden Globes ranks as the third most-watched annual awards show, behind only the Oscars and the Grammys.

The winners are chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and are known for springing surprises, especially as its members have no say in choosing the Oscars.
