There were no worries about whether there would be a white Christmas last month for Mariah Carey and her five year- old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Instead, the 46-year-old diva flew by private jet to stay in this luxury five-bedroom snow lodge in Aspen, Colorado, complete with outdoor hot tub and its own lift. 

The singer booked the wintry residence through Airbnb, the website that allows users to list and rent out their properties to lodgers for short periods at a time.

The cost of staying in the £17.8 million chalet? An eye-watering £8,384 a night, a price which would be easily covered just by this year’s royalties from Mariah’s festive single All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The late Paul Mitchell’s estate is listed on Airbnb for the princely sum of over £5,000 a night. 

Now run by the businessman’s son, Angus, the hideaway is described a ‘modern-day vision of a Polynesian village with a spectacular backdrop of sunrises’.

Other perks include the Japanese bath house with a sauna and meditation pond, along with a lagoon-style saltwater swimming pool.

Overlooking the Cote d’Azur, the seven-bedroom retreat comes with a fully stocked wine cellar and state-of-the-art kitchen. 

While Gywnnie didn’t appear to leave a comment after her stay at Villa Taboo, she did post a picture of its huge pool with a message: ‘Merci for the most wonderful stay.’

A cross between a Disney princess palace and a Las Vegas casino, this sprawling pile contains features velvet furnishings, murals of big cats and an outdoor hot tub surrounded by Roman-style collonades. 

Indeed, the Airbnb blurb promises ‘the exquisite craftsmanship of each room will have you intrigued continuously’.

There was no shortage of bathing opportunities at the property Britney plumped for, a spectacular £24 million seaside mansion in Malibu. 

Better still, there was no chance of the 35-year-old pop princess and her two sons — Jayden, ten, and Sean, 11 — being pestered by autograph hunters among the locals: the California palace’s closest neighbours are the A-listers Charlize Theron and Halle Berry.

This was the case when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West attended the MTV Video Music Awards in August last year, staying in a £25 million Manhattan penthouse. 

The apartment, spread over 7,200 sq ft, offers 360 degree views of the Big Apple from no fewer than seven balconies. 

It features four bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as an indoor and outdoor kitchen, sauna, home gym and rooftop pool.

Like most celebrities, Kim didn’t put a review on Airbnb. 

Instead she posted an Instagram picture of herself lying back on a sofa, describing it as a ‘home away from home’.

Given her 90 million followers on the social network, the owners are likely to have been thrilled.

Other perks are a media lounge, a home gym and an open plan living room with a double-sided fireplace. 

The five bedrooms mean that while it’s a bit of squeeze, there is just enough room for the Jolie-Pitt brood, who can splash about in two swimming pools or take the private path down to the beach below.

So instead she rented a glass mansion in the Los Altos Hills in California, described on Airbnb as no less than a ‘contemporary masterpiece’ of modern architecture.

While it’s unlikely the singer would have been slaving over a hot stove herself during her stay last February, the kitchen boasts no fewer than six ovens and three dishwashers.

That may go some way towards explaining why the cleaning fee alone for this five-bedroom house is £1,677.

In the mornings, fresh fruit is available from the estate’s orchard of 60 trees. There is also a rooftop vegetable garden, chickens to provide fresh eggs and hives for fresh honey.

No wonder Justin Bieber also checked in for a visit a month later.
