This Is Us star Chrissy Metz wows in plush amethyst gown at Golden Globes after overcoming knee injury which left her in wheelchair

She denied having gastric bypass and claimed it was a knee injury that left her in a wheelchair earlier this week.

But Chrissy Metz was back on her feet while taking to the red carpet at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The 36-year-old star - who received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a series, miniseries or television film for her role in This Is Us - looked beautiful in a plush amethyst gown.

Recovering: Chrissy Metz was back on her feet after a knee injury as she attended the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday

The ceremony honours the best in film and American television of 2016 as chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Chrissy donned the plunging deep purple Nathan Paul number which flashed a hint of her ample cleavage.

The luxurious garb included rhinestone encrusted detailing along the waistline and cuffs.

She styled her silky honey tresses in soft curls which were swept to one side, allowing her flawless complexion and natural beauty to shine through.

Recognized: The star received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a series, miniseries or television film for her role as Kate Pearson in This Is Us

The American Horror Story star opted for a thin black eyeliner with rosy blush and pale pink glossed lips.

She skipped the accessories and allowed her showstopping frock to take centre stage.

Chrissy portrays Kate Pearson on the NBC hit and her character decides to undergo gastric bypass.

In the television show, her character is battling with obesity and has embarked on a weight loss plan with the encouragement of new boyfriend Toby, played by Chris Sullivan.

Honoured: Mandy Moore, 32, is also being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in This Is Us

Speculation grew that the actress also made the big decision to have the weight loss surgery as she was spotted in a wheelchair at LAX airport on Wednesday.

But a representative for the starlet said she was recovering from a knee injury that occurred in Florida during Christmas.

Meanwhile, the NBC series This Is Us also picked up a nomination at the Globes for Best Television Series - Drama.

Several of Chrissy's co-stars also stunned at the star-studded awards show including Mandy Moore, 32.
