Bottom of the barrel! Sofia Vergara jokingly says anal instead of annual as she takes to the stage at the Golden Globes

It would not be an award show without this star poking fun at her own accent.

Sofia Vergara went for laughs at her own expense once again at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.

The 44-year-old Colombian ensured she was the butt of a joke - literally- as she introduced the world to this year's Miss Golden Globes.

Cheeky: Sofia Vergara went for laughs at her own expense once again at the Golden Globes on Sunday night as she introduced the world to this year's Miss Golden Globes

The Modern Family star kicked off her speech by saying, 'Good evening The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has an anal tradition... I didn't mean anal I mean, they have an anus tradition.'

Making the joke a little awkward however, was that she was introducing teenage girls, but she did not let that hold her back.

Sofia continued: 'They have a tradition that they do every year of choosing a second generation perform to assist in the presentation of the award to fulfill the duties of Miss Golden Globes tonight are the three beautiful daughters of Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin, Scarlet, Sistine and Sophia Stallone.'

While her joke got laughs from the star-studded audience, not everyone was so impressed.

Butt of the joke: The Modern Family star kicked off her speech by saying, 'Good evening The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has an anal tradition... I didn't mean anal I mean, they have an anus tradition'

Age restrictions: Making the joke a little awkward however, was that the actress was introducing young women, Scarlet, 14, Sistine, 18 and Sophia Stallone, 20

End on a high: She finished the speech on a high however by introducing the girls as the 'three beautiful daughters' of Sylvester Stallone

Many took to Twitter to ask why, once again, the star was making a joke about her accent.

The digital editorial director of Teen Vogue, Phillip Picardi mused: 'I wish we could live in a world where @sofiavergara doesn't have to CONSTANTLY MOCK HERSELF IN ORDER TO EXIST.'

New York Times Best Selling Author Luvvie Ajayi was also critical of Sofia's jokes.

Important role: The Stallone sisters were all named Miss Golden Globes this year

Do better: While her joke got laughs from the star-studded audience, not everyone was so impressed and took to Twitter

I did it! Sofia looked happy with her humorous efforts as she left the stage

Going for gold: Sofia dazzled in a sexy semi-sheer gown embellished with shimmering golden sequins

She tweeted: 'Award show writers be like: "Sofia Vergara is presenting? Cool! Let's make fun of her accent." It is TIRED AF.'

But Sofia did not seem to be too worried about poking fun at herself, posting an Instagram making yet another a** joke.

On a picture of herself waiting to go on stage she wrote: 'I look lonely back stage but I was just trying to come up with my an*s joke hahhahha!!!!#goldenglobes2017 #itsallaboutentertaining.'

Double trouble: Sofia looked in good spirits later on however when she attended the InStyle and Warner Bros after party later that night with Priyanka Chopra

Having a ball: The girls could not stop laughing as they posed together on the carpet

Fooling around: Formed of thin mesh at the top, the dress was sure to show off plenty of her cleavage and smooth skin as she cheekily posed alongside Priyanka

Helping hand: The girls appeared to help each other adjust their plunging numbers as they headed into the party

Glamorous: Sweeping her hair into a chic ponytail, the Columbian beauty displayed her enviably clear complexion and naturally striking features

Vampy glamour: Meanwhile Indian beauty Priyanka upped the glamour with a thick slick of purple lipstick

Putting on the glitz: The girls both matched their shimmering ensembles with a smattering of sparkling rings and bracelets

Kept it going: But Sofia did not seem to be too worried about poking fun at herself, posting an Instagram making yet another a** joke
