Making a comeback: Mel Gibson, 61, and heavily pregnant girlfriend Rosalind Ross, 26, pose at Golden Globes as nominated star seals his return to the Hollywood A-List

Hollywood loves a redemption story.

And Mel Gibson seemed to complete his on Sunday night, walking the red carpet at the Golden Globes, with his pregnant girlfriend, Rosalind Ross, 26.

Red carpet redemption: Mel Gibson completed his return to Hollywood's inner-circle on Sunday night, posin with his pregnant girlfriend Rosalind Ross at the Golden Globes, where he was nominated for Best Director for his film Hacksaw Ridge

The 61-year-old beamed for the cameras, with both his professional and personal life going from strength-to-strength after a number of highly publicised incidents that left him outcast from Hollywood's inner-circle.

The Australian star was clean shaven for the event, with his trademark bushy beard shaved off days earlier on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

The Oscar winner looked dapper in a black tuxedo, completed with a classic bow-tie.

Professional and personal success: Mel ditched his trademark bushy beard, and looked dapper in a tuxedo as he posed with Rosalind

Meanwhile, girlfriend Rosalind, who is a screenwriter and ex-equestrian athlete, stunned in a loose-fitting silk gown.

The raven-haired beauty wore her locks in a loose bun and she was made-up flawlessly for the occasion, with a bold red lip highlighting her alabaster skin.

Rosalind's baby bump was visible despite the dress's draped appearance, with the due date of the couple's first child together believed to be just months away.

Expecting: Rosalind stunned on the red carpet, showing off her baby bump in a silk down

The couple announced the pregnancy in September, and the new arrival will be Mel's ninth child.

He has seven children from his first marriage to Robyn Moore, and a six-year-old daughter, Lucia, from his relationship with Oksana Grigorieva.

As of 2011, the star also has three grandchildren.

Beaming: Mel looked proud as he escorted Rosalind down the red carpet

Meanwhile, Hacksaw Ridge star Andrew Garfield, who is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture- Drama, praised Mel on the red carpet.

Talking to Ryan Seacrest, Andrew claimed that 'Mel is all gut and heart'.

Praising his directorial skills, Andrew stated, 'He's incredibly instinctive and a formidable story teller, a visceral storyteller and really kind of hits audiences right where it hurts.'

Back on Hollywood's A-List: The Oscar winning Australian was all smiles on Sunday night

Since its November release, Hacksaw Ridge has been a critical and commercial success, grossing over $137 million worldwide.

Mel had previously been ostracised from Hollywood, after several high profile rants were caught on camera.

In 2006, Mel was arrested in Malibu for drink driving, launching into a anti-Semitic rant.

Mel was also at the centre of controversy in 2010, after a series of recordings allegedly of him verbally abusing ex-partner Oksana surfaced on Radar Online.
