Pioneer Cabin is toppled by bad weather in California

The historic Pioneer Cabin in Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Calaveras County, California, came down during heavy rains on Sunday at about 2pm local time. The West Coast was hit this weekend with one of the biggest storms in the last decade, causing thousands of people to evacuate their homes. There was no immediate word on what caused the tree to fall, but it is believed that it had to do with the tree's shallow root system and the inundation. The tree has stood in the state park since the 1800s, when was first hollowed out for visitors to pass through it.

The puppy has become a star on the photo sharing site after being born with a rare gene that means his fur is longer than usual.

The creatures then faced each other in a tense two minute stand-off, before the big cat pounced. Kuta the rescue dog who swims with a pod of dolphins off Western Australia coast

Staffordshire terrier cross Kuta, circled in red, loves the ocean. She feels at home paddling with the dolphins at Esperance, off the West Australian coast.
