Jennifer Garner and daughter Seraphina enjoy a snowy girls' day as Ben Affleck presents at Golden Globes

Sunday marks one of the most important events of award season in Hollywood.

But Jennifer Garner decided she'd much rather spend the day enjoying snowy New York City with her eight-year-old daughter, Seraphina Rose.

The mother-daughter duo hit the shops on 5th Avenue and even took in some culture at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Playing hooky: Jennifer Garner decided she'd much rather spend the day enjoying snowy New York City with her eight-year-old daughter, Seraphina Rose

Spoiling her little one: The Dallas Buyer's Club actress took Seraphina to American Girl Place, where she showered her with toys

Dressed in a puffer coat filled with down and snow clothes, 44-year-old Jen ushered her adorable daughter along, who was bundled up in a puffer coat of her own.

The Dallas Buyer's Club actress - who hasn't attended a Golden Globe ceremony since 2013 with now-estranged husband Ben Affleck - took Seraphina to American Girl Place, where she showered her with dolls, shirts, reading and coloring books and more toys.

The pair walked out with a large shopping bag and hid from the snow.

Meanwhile, Affleck was in warm Beverly Hills, Los Angeles taking in the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards show.

The 44-year-old actor took the stage with his Live by Night co-stars Sienna Miller and Zoe Saldana to present Damien Chazelle the best director for motion picture award for his film La La Land.

And though Ben was not up for an award at this year's ceremony, his younger brother Casey Affleck, rocking a beard and man bun, snagged best actor in a motion picture in the drama category.

LA Times journalist Amy Kaufman reported via Twitter that Ben will join his friend Matt Damon at the Amazon bash to celebrate Casey's win.
