A ten-year-old girl who was raped, murdered and dismembered by her mother's boyfriend was suffering from a sexually transmitted disease at the time of her death, an autopsy has revealed. Victoria Martens was killed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 23 last year, the day after her 10th birthday. An autopsy report shows Victoria (pictured) had human papillomavirus (HPV) at the time of her death, suggesting she had suffered sexual abuse in the months before her death. She was remembered at a memorial service last year. Her alleged tormentors face trial in October.

Former US Senator Al D'Amato from New York was removed from a JetBlue flight Monday evening after staging a protest against the crew. The 79-year-old D'Amato's 'rebellion' was captured on video by fellow passengers and shared on social media, where as of Tuesday afternoon it has been viewed thousands of times. D'Amato, who the last Republican to represent the Empire State in the US Senate in the 1980s and 90s, reportedly became enraged after the takeoff of JetBlue Flight 1002 from Fort Lauderdale to New York was delayed by more than six hours.

The owner of the chauffeur company used by Kim Kardashian has been arrested by French police investigating the multi-million jewel heist. Michael Madar, 40, was arrested in a dawn raid on his home on Monday morning - one of 17 people detained by police's organised crime brigade in the Paris area and the south of France. Madar is the owner of Unic Worldwide Limousines, the chauffeur company used by Kim Kardashian and her family in Paris. It is also the company used by the reality TV star at the time of the robbery in the French capital in October last year. Researchers at the Federal University of Santa Maria in Brazil found the tarantula eating the snake in Serra do Caverá in southern Brazil. Grammostola tarantulas have previously been induced to eat snakes in captivity. But this is the first time the shocking scene has been captured in the wild.

A volunteer search and rescue team in Utah were left scratching their heads after a distressed dog they were unable to rescue from a mountain appeared to bring itself to safety the next day. The dog, called Mary, had been stuck at the top of a 50 foot cliff and rescuers had been unable to bring her down as she was too frightened and nipped one of the team. But before they launched a fresh rescue, they next day, they were told she had managed to bring herself to safety.
