Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890–1937) was an American writer: an heir of Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne and a pioneer of supernatural and science fiction. He was a master of the short story, but also wrote novellas, poems, essays, criticism, and countless letters.
