'Can't we all just get along?': Jamie Foxx responds to reports of 'violent altercation at LA restaurant' by posting a funny boss-eyed video

He was alleged to have been swept up in a fight at one of Los Angeles' most star-studded eateries over the weekend.

And Jamie Foxx has responded to the reports in the best possible way, taking to social media to share a funny video of his 'injuries'.

The 49-year-old actor can be seen seemingly nursing a bruised face, removing a flannel to reveal a boss eye.

Speaking directly into the camera, Jamie says: 'F**k, word is out man. I know y'all heard about this s**t.

'I just want to address what happened on Saturday man from my perspective. All I was trying to do man was keep my own things.'

Jamie then proceed to crack a smile, revealing it was all a joke, craftily promoting his new action film Sleepless in the process.

He declares: 'I'm just f**king with you all! 2017, we don't want no violence, we don't want to get hurt.

'But if you want to see me whoop some a**, y'all know what you gotta do (pans to Sleepless film poster) - come check me.

'Friday 13. Sleepless. Go see your boy kick some a** for real.'

The Django Unchained star shared a plea for peace in the accompanying caption.

'Gotta set the record straight. Can't we all just get along? East coast west coast! 

'Remember when they push and shove it's only love!', he wrote.

The actor was at Catch LA on Saturday night with a group of friends having dinner when they were allegedly approached by another patron and things turned violent.

TMZ has obtained video of the incident which saw pandemonium ensue at the West Hollywood, California, establishment.

Witnesses told TMZ that a man approached Jamie's table where he was sitting with fellow actor Tyrin Turner, his barber Conrad Hilton and other friends on the restaurant's famed patio and asked them to be quiet.

Words were exchanged and the unknown patron allegedly said, 'You don't want to mess with me. I'm from New York.'

The witness then told TMZ that a comedian having dinner with Jamie shouted back, 'F*** you I'm from Oakland.'

The man then allegedly lunged at the actor and things turned physical, a witness told the website.

While TMZ said the man grabbed the Oscar winner and Jamie put the man in a headlock, a source tells the DailyMail.com however, that Jamie did not make contact with the man.

In TMZ's video, the group are number of men appear to be grabbing and pushing each other while others try to separate them, it is not clear where Jamie was in the melee.

In the video, the group fall into a table as people yell at them to calm down.

The men finally did calm down and, according to TMZ, the man who allegedly started the confrontation was asked to leave.

The fight marred what seemed like a great evening for the actor, whose new movie Sleepless is out Friday.

The star arrived with a big smile on his face and spent some time chatting and posing up for pictures with fans.

Jamie was also seen catching to Nicole Murphy as well as discussing basketball with former Lakers coach Byron Scott.

Also there for there to watch the new dramatic version of The Jamie Foxx show was fellow celebs Jerry Bruckheimer, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Michael Bay.
