Stephanie Davis has reportedly gone into labour in her native Liverpool.

Focused on the 'safe arrival of her son,' Stephanie is said to have been taken to hospital on Tuesday to welcome her first child, according to The Sun.

The pregnant actress, 23, who announced her pregnancy last May, is thought to welcome Jeremy McConnell's baby in the coming hours, after the chosen godfather teased on Twitter that he'd 'never been so excited.

Has she or hasn't she? Stephanie Davis sparked a frenzy among fans about whether or not she had welcomed the baby, after one newspaper claimed she'd gone into labour

A source told the newspaper: 'Steph is so excited that the day has finally come that she will meet her son.

'At the moment she is focusing on welcoming her little boy – her priority is his safe delivery and spending some quality time with him.'

A representative for Stephanie Davis has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Stephanie has been noticeably absent from social media for the last two weeks and the friend insists that while she is grateful for fans' support, 'her attention is on getting to grips with being a mum.'

Expecting: Stephanie's due date was in January and while she's been absent from social media, the godfather of her baby said he was 'excited'

All the while, Stephanie's friends and family appear to be dropping public hints about the birth for her.

On Tuesday evening, Steph's close pal Jay Roberts, who has been chosen as the godfather, tweeted: 'I've never been more excited in my life!!!' beside a gritted teeth smiley.

Stephanie announced that Jay would be her unborn son's godfather in September, thanking him for being there 'every step' of the way.

She told Twitter fans: 'Say hi jay. Hes taking me my last scan with my mum dad, don't know what I'd do without him,he's been there every step (sic)

Stephanie hasn't had the easiest of pregnancies as she was struck down with acute morning sickness in the first and second trimester and then she experienced some bleeding, which she feared was a sign of her losing her baby, in the third trimester.

However, doctors quickly established that her baby was fine and she had colitis.

Stephanie then started experiencing Braxton Hicks - irregular practice contractions that can be felt around mid-pregnancy and increase in frequency and strength as the pregnancy progresses - and pressure at the bottom of her stomach last month.

While the brunette beauty is gearing up to become a mother, the baby's father Jeremy McConnell - who is adamant he isn't related to the unborn tot - is off on holiday.

The former Hollyoaks star is due to welcome a baby boy in January and revealed she's been packed and ready for the birth since December, but has kept off social media since Christmas.

Stephanie herself has not posted on social media for two weeks, so instead her fans flooded her latest pregnancy picture with well-wishings.

Dropping hints? The baby's father Jeremy McConnell appeared to have his ex-girlfriend and the child on his mind as he shared a snap from his trip to Thailand captioned: 'Waiting for u son', on Sunday

One wrote: 'Hope all is well with you and your baby boy. Take as much quiet time as you need to bond with bubba'

Another well-wisher said: 'Congratulations on your baby,' while another sent: 'I feel like you've definitely had him by now. So congrats'

One fan insisted: 'Baby is deffo here. She's waiting to post because she will have that all important magazine deal first'

Just this week, father Jeremy appeared to have his ex-girlfriend and the child on his mind when he shared a snap from his trip to Thailand captioned: 'Waiting for u son'.

The 26-year-old model - who met Stephanie exactly a year ago last Monday when he entered the Celebrity Big Brother house - seemed remarkably carefree.

Exes: Jeremy and Stephanie embarked on a toxic romance after meeting on CBB which culminated in a bitter split shortly before she announced she was expecting Jeremy's child

Jeremy's holiday comes just days before Stephanie's due date.

A source close to Stephanie told The Sun: 'This is just another example of Jeremy trying to rile Stephanie.

'Even when she is hours away from giving birth, he can't just do the right thing and show her even an ounce of support or respect.'

Stephanie spoke to new! magazine this week about how she and Jeremy are expecting to deal with the impending paternity test.

Who's the daddy? She has maintained constantly throughout her pregnancy that Jeremy is the father, yet the Dubliner has lashed out at her claims and insisted he wants a paternity test

Jeremy insisted on a paternity test in December when he made the accusation that Stephanie was 'with other people' at the end of their on and off romance.

'Jeremy knows the truth,' Stephanie defiantly told the magazine. 'But I'm keeping that private.

'I'll sort that with him. If I could have done [the test] straight away, I would have, but it was too dangerous for the baby.'

Despite, Jeremy's long-haul trip, the star is ready to come back at a moments notice.

His representative told MailOnline: 'Jeremy is currently in Thailand enjoying a short holiday with friends, which has been booked for sometime.

'He has an open return ticket should he need to return to the UK before the end of his trip'.

Conflicting: Stephanie has said that she will 'privately sort' the issue out with her former flame, but insisted that he knew the truth. He however is unsure as to who is the father
