Designer dogs rise eightfold in a decade... so can you tell a shorkie from a puggle

What do you get when you cross a pug with a beagle, a shihtzu with a Yorkshire terrier or a maltese with a poodle? The answer is the latest pet craze - as 'puggles', 'shorkies' (shown number 1) and 'maltipoos' (number 4) have seen the number of designer dogs rise almost eightfold in a decade. Last year the most popular were the 'cockapoo' (number 6), a cross between a cocker spaniel and poodle, and the 'labradoodle', a mixture of labrador and poodle, according to research. Crossbred dogs are often family-friendly, having inherited some of the best traits from their breeding pairs. They are also hypoallergenic, so allergy-sufferers can own them. Owners include Jennifer Aniston, who has a labradoodle (number 3), and Sylvester Stallone, who has a puggle (number 5). Incredible video shows the moment a massive Clydesdale horse was rescued more than TWO HOURS after it got stuck in a freezing cold creek

A massive Clydesdale horse has thankfully been rescued after she fell through a frozen creek. The huge mare managed to gets herself stuck in the freezing cold water after the creek in Rimbey, Alberta - about 90 miles from Edmonton, collapsed beneath her hooves on Monday. Cody Scott, 20, recorded the dramatic rescue and posted in online, showing just how they managed to pull the lucky animal from the water. It starts by showing a group of rescuers around the horse, with a rope tied around her forehead and muzzle (left). The horse is then seen beginning to make her way out (middle), before ultimately she was back on dry land (right).

Kristin Owens and Brian Powers, of Indianapolis, had planned a perfect fairytale wedding next month. Until last week when her mother Cheryl received a devastating diagnosis.

Mother-of-one Laura Asbury, 27, filmed Dalmatian Lux holding onto her son Leo Rose, five, (pictured) in an apparent bid to stop his young owner leaving the house for lessons.

The customer claimed she had financial issues and couldn't afford to raise the cat. She claimed she had tried to return the pet to the store in Lijiang city, but failed. So she had the animal killed and skinned.

CCTV footage captured the 'ghosts' stalking the corridors of the building, looking for items to take before walking past again with their arms full of expensive computer equipment.

Dog bless you! Adorable moment a baby sneezes and uses her dachshund puppy as tissue

Baby P, who had the sniffles, was sitting in a chair with Ammo the dachshund at their Pennsylvania home. She was petting Ammo when she sneezed (bottom left) twice and needed some tissue. Her best bud, Ammo, came to the rescue and offered his services as a makeshift tissue. The pooch (bottom right) licked the surprised child's face as she continued to pet him. The video ended with the pair still hanging out, Baby P in a onesie, and Ammo by her side.
