'I sang the Rocky theme between pushes!' Smash star Megan Hilty dishes on giving birth to daughter Viola as she prepares to welcome son

She's a Tony nominated Broadway singer and actress and starred in NBC's Smash.

So it made perfect sense for Megan Hilty to break into an upbeat motivational song during the birth of her daughter Viola, now two.

'I sang the Rocky theme song between pushes!' the 35-year-old revealed in the February cover story of Fit Pregnancy And Baby, out on January 26.

The beautiful blonde is now expecting a little boy with husband actor-musician Brian Gallagher, 36.

'I hope to do some of the same things I did last time,' she said of her birth plan. 'For instance, it was important to me when Viola was born that they didn’t wash her immediately, she told the magazine.

'I read that the mucus that babies are covered in is really good for their skin, so I wanted it to seep in and not be scrubbed off.'

It was love at first sight when Megan and Brian were introduced by a mutual friend at a bar off Broadway in New York in 2012.

Photoshoot chic: The 35-year-old, who is married to  actor-musician Brian Gallagher, 36, dished about pregnancy the second time around in the magazine, due out on January 26

The couple, who tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Venetian chapel in Las Vegas on November 2, 2013, announced the happy news that they were expecting just four months later.

But there was a time when she thought she would never have children.

'I had this idea from childhood that there wasn’t room for parenting and my career, and I chose my career.' Megan dished. 'Thankfully, I was totally wrong.

'Once I met Brian everything changed. It was, "Uh-oh, I can’t be away from this person." We got married, and immediately it was, "Where’s the baby?" We decided to try and were lucky enough to have Vi.

'Then we started thinking about how much we love our siblings, and we wanted her to have that,' Megan added.

The busy actress plans to work through her pregnancy just as she did the first time - and she hasn't given up her high heels, either, turning up in them for the magazine photoshoot.

'I was on a world tour with Brian while expecting Viola, and at every concert we dedicated a song to her and filmed it. Now she can see all the amazing places she went to before being born.'

And they did the same for their son when they went on tour in support of her new album, A Merry Little Christmas, in December.

As if that weren't enough, the couple are also in the middle of moving from New York to Los Angeles and aim to be in before their baby boy arrives.

Megan isn’t ruffled. 'We make it work, like any parents. Everybody’s just trying to make it work!'
