She had the daunting task of stepping into the shoes of CJ Parker - the iconic lifeguard played by Pamela Anderson on Baywatch during the 1990s.

And Kelly Rohrbach certainly appears to have put her own stamp on the character in the new Baywatch movie.

The Sports Illustrated model shows off her stunning figure in the trailer for the film reboot of the David Hasselhoff TV series.

Kelly sports a similar swimsuit to Pamela's although her costume features a front gold zip.

And in a throwback to the TV show, Kelly is seen running along the beach in slow motion.

'Why does she always look like she's running in slow motion?' a beach goer asks.

Kelly has previously discussed fittings for the famous swimsuit, describing it as a 'process.'

'The first time. we have retailored it and restructured it 10 different times,' she told E! earlier this year. 'They wanted to revamp it and make it modern.

'They added zippers. At first there was a collar and we took that off so we sort of played around with it. It took us about a month to get it right.'

Meanwhile, the trailer has no shortage of male muscles, featuring Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson schlepping refrigerators through the sand during a gruelling beach challenge.

'This has nothing to do with saving people. These are refrigerators!' exclaims a shirtless and sweaty Efron.

'This is Baywatch, you p****' The Rock barks back, setting the tone for the rest of the bawdy action comedy.

The trailer starts with some serious lifesaving, with a sequence of explosions and on-the-beach rescues.

The Rock, who takes the role of Hasselhoff's Mitch Buchanan explains: 'There's more than to this job than just swimming,' before music begins to bump and the busy beach-savers strut into a Miami club.

Pryanka Chopra appears as Victoria Leeds, the sultry club owner who seems to be the root of all of Baywatch's problems.

Kaboom! The trailer promises an explosively entertaining watch, setting many boats ablaze in the clip

A quick cut of fights, jet-ski races and slapstick gags promise Baywatch will be a hilarious and action-packed film.

The trailer even pokes fun at it's silver-screen predecessor, with Efron's character explaining: 'Everything you guys are talking about sounds like a really entertaining but far-fetched TV show.'

Baywatch swims into cinemas in May.
