Charlize Theron stepped out in Beverly Hills on Friday with a surgical cut across the nape of her neck.
The stunning actress recently underwent surgery to correct a broken vertebra but it didn’t stop her from turning up to Variety's 5th Annual Power of Women event where she was honoured for her charity work.
A source told Us Weekly: ‘Charlize got injured on a set and broke a vertebra years ago. It's been bothering her a lot lately so she had surgery to correct it and they had to go through her neck. The injury occurred when something hit her head.

‘She hasn’t been feeling good post-surgery but she will be totally fine. She plans just to hang out and rest all weekend and recuperate.’
However, the stunning blonde seemed uncharacteristically insecure about her appearance as she posed on the carpet and met with the event's other famous attendees.
While the incision was dressed in a bandage, Charlize nervously tugged at her dress in an attempt to cover up the cut.

Clearly with things on her mind, Charlize reportedly burst into tears on stage as she accepted the award for her philanthropy awards.
The tearful star, according to E!, dedicated the award to her date for the evening - her mother Gerda.

there's someone here so much more powerful than me.

'That b**** was building roads in Africa when no woman was doing that. I thank you, Mom, for teaching me to by your actions how to be a strong woman, and for turning me into a p***y every time I talk to you.'
Later the star stopped to chat to Elizabeth Banks, who appeared to take a closer look at Charlize's cut before helping the actress cover it up.
