The Weeknd and Selena Gomez are the hot new couple on the block after going public with their budding romance this week.

But the R&B artist, who split from model Bella Hadid in November after two years of dating, clearly isn't in a rush to tie himself down.

'Marriage is scary to me, man,' the 26-year-old Canadian told GQ magazine's February issue.

He added: 'I feel like I’m the kind of guy that would have kids before getting married.'

The Weeknd - real name Abel Tesfaye - is enjoying huge success with his third studio album Starboy.

He's made his career on the back of sexually explicit lyrics and 'double mullet' hairstyle, which he has now cut off.

But four years on from finding fame with his compilation album Trilogy, the recording artist says he's more circumspect about his lifestyle.

'I’m much more, like, self-regulating than I was four years ago, when I first started getting everything and enjoying life,' he said. 'I don’t focus on it as much as I used to.'

'Before it’s like, ‘Holy f***—this is amazing.’ Right now, it’s like a good song turns me on way more. Like, that gets me horny, like, literally gets me horny.'

He went on: 'I’m not gonna walk into the club and be like, ‘Oh s*** I’m the sexiest guy in here.’ The reason why they want to f*** with me is because of what I do [in the studio]. So I’d rather just focus on doing that.'

While it seems as if The Weeknd has moved on quickly from his relationship with Bella, 20, sources told E! News that the new romance with Selena, 24, who just spent several months out of the spotlight getting treatment for anxiety and depression related to her lupus, came somewhat out of the blue.

'Selena was focusing on getting herself back together and Abel was just getting out of a relationship, plus putting out his new album,' the source claimed.

'Abel and Bella also were on and off towards the end of their relationship, so getting into something brand new was not what Abel was looking for.'

The insider added: 'Abel though always had a thing for Selena. He thinks she is extremely talented and sexy....... They are taking things slow and getting to know each other.'
