The Environment Agency's seven severe flood warnings - which warn of a danger to life - are in place for Friday lunchtime in coastal areas of Essex and Suffolk in the face of gale-force winds and high tides, while dozens of flood warnings have been imposed as the east coast braces itself for a storm surge. Emergency services were putting an evacuation plan into action in Jaywick, near Clacton-on-Sea (bottom right), with police officers going door-to-door informing residents of the evacuation, which is beginning at 7am today. After the temperature plummeted as low as -9C in some areas overnight, snow has turned to ice, creating treacherous dangerous conditions for rush hour drivers - as seen in Kent (centre, inset and top right).
Child star who played Damien in the horror film The Omen punched two middle-aged cyclists in a road-rage attack and faces jail later today: Friday the 13th
The child who shot to fame after he played Damien in horror film The Omen (pictured main) faces jail today after he admitted to punching two cyclists in a road rage attack. His role as Damien Thorn, the Antichrist in the 1976 horror classic, elevated him to worldwide fame and Stephens became known for the scene where in which he cycles on a tricycle, before watching calmly as his mother falls from a balcony.
The hedonist who brought Playboy to Britain (and 'auditioned' every Bunny Girl he could get his hands on): JANE FRYER on the life of Victor Lownes after his death aged 88
Lownes was the brains behind the Playboy bunny brand and helped Hugh Hefner build his magazine empire and open clubs in the UK - but he became infamous for his decadent parties and love of women. His lifestyle was every promiscuous bachelor's fantasy - something he was fully aware of and utterly delighted by. As he once put it himself, rather ungallantly: 'Power is an aphrodisiac. In the Bunnies' world, I was No 1. It was a feather in their cap to go out with me.'

Inside the shadowy world of Chris Whatsit: How the brilliant Cambridge spy behind the Trump 'dirty dossier' was the first to reveal Litvinenko was poisoned by Putin's thugs - and how his wife's high heels were stolen by Kremlin spooks
Christopher Steele (top left) was once MI6's top spy on Russian affairs and lived in the shadows until being unmasked as the alleged author of the 'dirty dossier' on Donald Trump. He was dubbed 'Chris Whatsit' by his late wife Laura (top right) on their first date because she could not remember his name - but he revelled in being a man of mystery. Now the 52-year-old is hoping to return to anonymity after fleeing his £1.5million home (main images) in Surrey. The property has numerous security cameras dotted around it with neighbours saying Steele left on Wednesday afternoon.
Bad news, Trump haters: This bonkers show has made him even MORE popular, writes JUSTIN WEBB. He played to the gallery with something bordering on genius
This was the most madcap performance by an incoming president since the 19th century, when Andrew Jackson took a bullet in the arm in a bar fight with a Senator. His line dismissing the sex tape news - 'It was a group of opponents that got together, sick people, and they put that crap together' - was vintage Trump.

Robin 'punched' our six-year-old son: Thicke's ex claims child is 'scared' of his 'violent' father in bitter custody row - as singer says she's upset because she wasn't invited to his father's funeral
Robin Thicke has been accused of spanking and punching his six-year-old son in new legal documents filed in his bitter custody battle with ex-wife Paula Patton. The papers allege how Thicke and Patton's son, Julian, told school teachers that his pop-star father spanked him a number of times and even 'punched' him, a source close to the case said. As a result, Patton stopped letting Thicke see his son, and court documents allegedly claim she told him: 'Julian is scared of you.' The singer, whose father died last month, currently sees his son overnight every Thursday, Friday and Saturday as part of a joint custody agreement. And Thicke hit back at the child abuse allegations, saying he rarely spanked his son - but even when he did it was part of a punishment style he and Patton had agreed upon.
KATIE HOPKINS: The NHS crisis just proves that demand will always outstrip supply when you are giving something away - and that was BEFORE we decided to let the rest of the world join the queue
A free health service does not only cause the ignorant to use it like it has no value (going to A&E; with a broken toe or splinter, for example). But it actively encourages people to behave irresponsibly, stuffing themselves to obesity, drinking themselves out of a liver, stuffing sugar until they're type 2 diabetic, knowing the NHS will pick up the pieces, writes KATIE HOPKINS.
Can YOU tell which of these meals contain the most calories? The answer is not as obvious as you think (and it may change your attitude to dieting for good)
Nutritionist Nichola Whitehead has put together two very different meal plans: one healthy (left) and one full of junk food (right). But it's much harder to work out which one contains more calories than you may think. Can you guess which diet is more calorific than the other? Nichola says she drew up the plans to encourage people to focus on the healthiness of their food, rather than on counting numbers.

From 'naming' shapes to taking a DEAD fish to school: Parents and teachers share hilarious photos of children who took instructions WAY too literally
Parents and teachers have shared hilarious photos of times children took instructions far too literally. One child was asked to 'name the quadrilaterals' in their test paper, but rather than differentiate a square from a rectangle, gave the coloured shapes human names like 'Bob' or 'Harry' (left). Another child was told they weren't allowed to go outside, so lay flat on the front deck, only their feet remaining on the floorboards inside (inset). Other students were asked to bring their fish to school, but rather than bring in his pet, one little boy brought in a dead fish from the market (right).

The 18-year-old said that when she told her parents that she was dating a black student, her dad told her that she was not allowed to see him again and would no longer support her future. But her father, Bill Dowdle, said that his daughter dating a black man may not be his 'preference' because of 'issues' involved with biracial dating in the South. He said it 'was never about race', adding that he isn't a racist and he disapproved of Michael in part because Allie had started seeing him in secret.

What Earth will look like in 250 million years: Simulations show new MEGACONTINENT called Amasia in unprecedented detail
Researchers have found that a new megacontinent - Amasia - will form in the next 250 million years. North and South America will crunch together, with the Caribbean Sea and Arctic Ocean disappearing, while Asia will join the Americas, according to research by Yale University researchers and Japan's Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. This will happen because of the movement of the earth's tectonic plates - the enormous plates of the earth's crust that have drifted together and apart over hundreds and millions of years.

'My mum is my angle': Hilarious tattoo fails show how things go badly wrong when the inker can't spell
Hilariously tattoo fails have been sweeping Instagram, as people poking fun at incorrect spellings and grammatical disasters. Clockwise from top left: One tattoo artist couldn't spell 'heart'; god was 'fudging' rather than judging this man; another pays tribute to his 'mather'; while this person's is his 'angle'; a motivational slogan gone wrong, and another that probably does make the bearer want to give up.
