'I could be Ginger Spice!': Ed Sheeran duets with Emma Bunton on Goodbye as he asks to join her girl group

She's set to go out on tour soon on a mini Spice Girls reunion.

And Emma Bunton may have recruited another member for the band as Ed Sheeran quipped he could be 'Ginger Spice' after they sang Goodbye together.

Appearing on the 40-year-old songstress's Heart radio show, Ed wasted no time in whipping out his guitar as they performed an acoustic version of the 1998 Spice Girls classic.

Clearly impressed with himself, Ed turned round to Emma aka Baby Spice and quipped he could take over Geri Horner's role.

'I could be Ginger Spice!' he enthused, as she agreed: 'You could so be Ginger Spice.'

Taking things a step further, Ed joked: 'If you get me the Union Jack dress, I could squeeze into that.'

'And some buffalo boots maybe,' Emma laughed. 'Ed, that was amazing!'

Sadly, Geri won't be giving up her title of Ginger Spice to Ed as she is set to go on tour with Emma and Mel B (Scary Spice).

The trio have reformed as The Spice Girls - GEM and are set to perform their old classics and some new hits.

Whilst Victoria Beckham (Posh) and Mel C (Sporty) were approached, the pair chose not to join in with the reunion.

Meanwhile, Ed has also been keeping busy and this week released two comeback singles after his year-long hiatus from the music industry.

So hotly-anticipated were his new tracks, that he beat One Direction with his songs, Shape of You and Castle on the Hill, which have been streamed globally 6.8million and 6.1million times respectively, smashing Spotify's Day 1 UK and global streaming record.

With his success, the Thinking Out Loud hitmaker has knocked One Direction - who achieved 4.7million streams with Drag Me Down in August 2015 - off the top spot.
