A testing time! Jaden Smith muses on telling father Will he 'failed' in video meltdown... and says he is leaving LA due to 'bad things here'

It is not easy being stuck in the shadow of a prominent parent.

And Jaden Smith mused on how he was going to tell his Fresh Prince father Will he 'failed' during an epic social media meltdown on Wednesday.

The disillusioned teenager also insisted he was going to leave Los Angeles due to the 'bad things here' as he underwent a existential crisis live on Instagram.

Where's Mr Miyagi when you need him: Karate Kid star Jaden Smith had an existential crisis on Instagram on Wednesday

However it seems there may have been a rather underwhelming trigger to his epic rant, which he later deleted, as he was sitting in his car at a Department Of Motor Vehicles centre, the location where one goes to sit a driving test.

The 18-year-old said: 'It's going to be so funny to tell my dad that I've failed straight up.'

Thankfully an obliging toady was on hand to give him a pep talk, insisting he was not a failure after all.

However he was on a roll, and soon moved the discussion to broader matters.

At least he kept his sense of humour: He said 'it's going to be so funny to tell my dad I've failed' following his trip to the DMV

The self-styled rapper said: 'I'm about to move out of LA. There's a lot of bad things here. Create the life that you want for yourself.

'Everybody follow your heart, you know what I'm saying? Do exactly what you want to do, be who you want to be.

'Don't try to be somebody else. It's hard these days to really create the life you want for yourself because there's nobody really here that's like supporting the youth or the youth's creativity.'

But it seems he is planning to unleash creative work of his own that will be even better than his Karate Kid reboot.

Jaden insisted: 'At the end of 2017, I'm gonna do some dope, some really, really dope, inspirational stuff that's beyond just music and clothes.'

However if he is going to achieve his aim he shall have to overcome the pointlessness of it all, a fact he underlined as he wondered aloud why cancer researchers or diplomats do not spend their time on social media.

He mused: 'Nothing about this life makes any sense. Why aren't we Instagramming Live about people saving lives?'

Wise words indeed from the youngster, who GQ said is 'the non-conforming hero we deserve' for modelling womenswear, including a skirt.
