'I just didn't want to wrinkle the dress!': Naomie Harris reveals she laid down during car ride to Golden Globes to keep dress from crumpling

It's one of the biggest nights of any star's career.

But heading to the Golden Globes wasn't a completely glamorous affair for nominee Naomie Harris, who admitted she took some rather extreme measures to keep her custom-made Armani Privé gown completely wrinkle-free.

The Moonlight actress, 40, explained during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday that, while on the way to the awards show, she was carried to her car and even laid flat on her back for over an hour inside the vehicle - all so that her dress wouldn't crumple.

That's dedication: Naomie Harris explained during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday that, on the way to the awards show, she was carried to her car and even laid flat on her back for over an hour inside the vehicle - all so that her dress wouldn't crumple

Naomie described the painstaking detail that went into making the dress, a factor which led her to take such good care of the gown.

'The thing is, with these dresses, you know there's so many hours of work that goes into them,' she said.

'My dress has little crystals on it, and they're all sewn in by hand.

'They were sewn by this lovely guy called Leonardo from Armani, and he flew from Milan, didn't speak a word of English, but he flew from Milan, fit me in LA for the dress, and he just had so much love and care for this dress, like it was a baby or something.'

'I got him to carry me like a child to the car': Naomie was unapologetic in her efforts to keep the dress perfect

She added: 'I just felt awful about the idea of wrinkling it! So, I got him to carry me like a child to the car, and then lay me flat so that I just spent the whole journey like this for like an hour on my way, because I just didn't want to wrinkle the dress for him!'

Naomie's portrayal of drug-addicted mother Paula in Moonlight earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress In A Supporting Role.

Though the honour ended up going to Viola Davis, Naomie is also up for a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.

Moonlight is set in a rough Miami neighborhood and chronicles one man's lifetime.

In order to portray drug-fuelled Paula, Naomie resorted to YouTube.

'It’s an important aid for an actor,’ she told MailOnline. 'I watched videos of people addicted to drugs.'

The film also stars Janelle Monae, and was written and directed by Barry Jenkins.
