Jennifer Connelly trades conventional for quirky as she steps out for morning stroll in eccentric fleece pea-jacket

She’s developed a reputation for understated style statements, but Jennifer Connelly swapped the conventional for the downright quirky during an appearance in New York City on Thursday morning.

The American Pastoral actress, 46, caught the eye in a fleece pea-jacket with military style buttons as she took a stroll through the sprawling city’s Meat Packing district.

With white striped detailing on either shoulder and distinctive red patches marking its generously cut pockets, the jacket ensured Jennifer stood out during an otherwise low-key appearance.

The actress teamed it with a pair of smart cropped trousers, while matching chunky shoes rounded things off. 

In keeping with her subdued look Jennifer went make-up free, thus allowing her wardrobe to command attention as she made her way into a nearby building. 

Accessorizing tastefully, the American star opted for a stylish Louis Vuitton handbag, while her brunette locks with tightly pulled into a simple bun.

Jennifer Connelly was spotted out and about on the streets of NYC dressed casual in black trousers and a mohair cardigan.

Her topper is by Louis Vuitton, from the esteemed brand's Autumn/Winter '16 collection, and she likes it so much she's worn it before.

Jennifer was without actor husband married Paul Bettany, who she married in a private Scottish ceremony in 2003 - two years after their first meeting on the set of A Beautiful Mind.

The couple are parents to son Stellan, 13, and daughter Agnes, five, while Jennifer also has 19-year old son Kai from a a previous relationship with photographer David Dugan. 

She previously ruled out having any more children, telling Allure magazine: 'I knew that we were going to be done after number three. That's enough for us.'

The Oscar-winner was no doubt grateful for some peace and quiet after working on upcoming action film Granite Mountain.

The epic tale is based on the true story of the men who battled a wildfire in Prescott, Arizona in June 2013 that resulted in 19 crew fatalities.

Jennifer stars as Amanda Marsh, the wife of superintendant Eric, and the film is slated for release in September 2017.
