Big sell: Keira Knightley's former New York City apartment has sold for a cool $6.4 million

The swanky abode has been on the market for seven years and was originally put on sale at $8.4 million in 2009, before being reduced.

It returned to the market last March for $6.6million but has now finally changed hands for $6million.

The pad features two floors with spectacular 23 foot ceilings and a 900 square-foot private patio which includes an outdoor day bed.

Moving on: Keira, her husband James Righton and their daughter Edie now reside in London

Luxurious: Japanese-style sliding doors lead to a master bedroom featuring walls covered in hand-embroidered silk

Spacious: The three bedroom apartment is located in the trendy Tribeca area of New York City

Additional luxuries include a cast iron staircase, Japanese-style sliding doors  and a master bedroom featuring walls covered in hand-embroidered silk according to the New York Post.

Exposed brick adds an eclectic look to the pad which features wooden floors throughout.

Floor to ceiling windows ensure the apartment has plenty of light, while there are sitting areas on the landing and dotted around the enormous downstairs living space.

Storage space: The stunning apartment features plenty of room for residents to keep books and display art

Plush: The kitchen features a modern central breakfast bar and varnished wooden cabinets with a whitewashed brick wall

Modern look: One of the pad's two and a half bathrooms features frosted glass doors and cream tile

Listings broker Colbert Warfield of Keller Williams NYC said: 'It's a truly unique space that makes everyone who has come to view it, clients & guests to architects and interior designers, say, "wow" upon entering.

'It's the dramatic bird's eye view into the open living room and the 900 square foot patio through the window wall that sets the apartment apart.'

Keira, her musician husband James Righton and their 18-month-old daughter Edie have now settled in London where the actress juggles motherhood with a slightly less hectic movie career.

Silk: The wallpaper in one of the bedrooms features beautifully ornate grey and white detail

She recently appeared alongside Will Smith, Helen Mirren and Thandie Newton in drama Collateral Beauty and will play the Sugar Plum Fairy in Disney's forthcoming production of The Nutcracker.

'I've become unbelievably aware of that and how lucky I've been to be able to afford really good childcare, because otherwise it would be at least four years out of my career,' she recently told Harper's Bazaar.

'I wouldn't be able to get back to where I'd been if I'd taken four years out. I think that's the same for most women. And I think that's really hard.'

The wow factor: The listings agent described the apartment as 'a truly unique space'
